Murrurundi and Tamworth

To TAMWORTH
First stop - Murrurundi for coffee and cake. Been here many times and always stop as it's a lovely little town with lots of galleries, old fashioned shops and cafes.
David Darcy has his studio in Murrurundi and he just won the 2020 People's Choice Award for the National Portrait Gallery's inaugural Darling Portrait Prize for his painting of 86-year-old farmer and environmentalist Wendy Bowman.
Tamworth is a large regional township that hosts the Country Music Festival each January.
Tamworth also has The Big Golden Guitar statue and a collection of guitars from famous country singers who have performed at the festival - including John Williamson, Keith Urban and of course Slim Dusty! There is the Powerhouse Motorcycle Museum, the Hall of Fame Museum and lots of art galleries. Lots of lovely cafes and shops and great nature walks. Ruby's Cafe is well worth visiting for the food and the quaint building and old wares furnishings. Hanging Rock famous for it's picnic is close by. #wiltshiresgowalkabout
