  • Day 67: Amalfi Coast Hike

    February 10, 2024 in Italy ⋅ 🌧 14 °C

Arrived at Amalfi in the morning and attempted to do a short hike in the area to check out some waterfalls. However, weather was not co-operating. We got all soaked and had to return to the hotel after 3 hours of soaking wet walk.Read more

  • Day 68: Salerno

    February 11, 2024 in Italy ⋅ 🌧 12 °C

It’s time to say goodbye to Amalfi! We moved forward to a town called Salerno, west of Amalfi trying to catch a bus to our next stop, Matera. We thought that the bus tickets that we got would take us to Matera directly, however, it turned out that it would go back to Napoli and did a huge detour in Bari before bringing us to Matera. We spent almost 8 hours on the bus to Matera. We learnt it this time, next time we will find a more direct route to Matera. But at least the bus is comfy enough and we enjoyed this crazy long bus ride.Read more

  • Day 71: Walk around Matera

    February 14, 2024 in Italy ⋅ 🌬 10 °C

We rested in Matera for 2 days and started to explore the town. The ancient town of Matera is also known as ‘sassi’, which means rocks or hills in Latin. This ancient town is full of stunning views and history. We could easily spent another two days just walking around and take it in.Read more

  • Day 71: Fall in love with Matera

    February 14, 2024 in Italy ⋅ 🌬 12 °C

It’s Valentine’s day and we definitely fell in love with Matera. There were just so much to see just wandering around on foot. We also tried the traditionally made bread in Matera, it claimed that there is no additional processing for the bread (meaning it is made by local flour only) We ended our day with a nice dinner in a nice family-run Korean Restaurant (yes! We would like some different flavour after traveling across Italy for 3 weeks) It was nice to meet nice people and have good food on the Valentine’s day this year.Read more

  • Day 72: Parco Della Murgia Matera

    February 15, 2024 in Italy ⋅ ☀️ 11 °C

We woke up nice and early today for this hike. We noticed that there was a national park just opposite to the Matera historic center. It looks like the entrance was blocked, but we could see people from afar walking around a few days when we wandered around the historic center. We finally realized that everybody just jumped the gate and entered the park. So, we thought we would do the same! We did not regret doing it as we could see different caves (with abandoned churches) in the park and had a stunning view looking back at the sassi.Read more

  • Day 73: Bari Central

    February 16, 2024 in Italy ⋅ ☀️ 16 °C

We traveled to Bari for transiting to a bus to Noci, our next destination. Bari is the transit hub for southern Italy. It is connected to many places in the Southern Italy.

  • Day 73: Noci

    February 16, 2024 in Italy ⋅ ☀️ 16 °C

We definitely love this small town! Noci is very quiet and close to all other touristy places. It is a hidden gem of southern Italy!

  • Day 74: Alberobello

    February 17, 2024 in Italy ⋅ ☀️ 12 °C

The more well-known Alberobello in Southern Italy. It is famous for the ‘trulli’, the cone-shaped house. There is a spot in Alberobello where the houses are more densely populated, which makes a very nice picture. But actually we can find trulli in a lot of places around Southern Italy, they are just scattered around.Read more

  • Day 76: Martina Franca

    February 19, 2024 in Italy ⋅ ☀️ 12 °C

This is not originally a place on the list, but we thought we were around the area already, so just dropped by to take a look. It is a larger city and full of white building. You don’t need an agenda to come here, just walk around and you can find a lot of interesting things to see.Read more

  • Day 76: Locorotondo

    February 19, 2024 in Italy ⋅ ☁️ 15 °C

After visiting Martina Franca, instead of riding the train, we were advised that we could walk to Locorotondo on a less-traveled route. It was a wise decision! The hike to Locorotondo was relaxing and easy. The first view of Locorotondo from afar was stunning. Locorotondo itself is an interesting place as well, the old historic centre is blocked off for pedestrian only, that makes the whole area very quiet and peaceful to tour around.Read more

  • Day 78: Grotte di Castellana

    February 21, 2024 in Italy ⋅ ☀️ 13 °C

The cave extended for 3.348 metres and reaches a depth of 122m below street level. It could only be visit with the cave tour, we joined the 11am English tour. No photo is allowed except the first cave. But it is still worth going to see it with your eyes!Read more

  • Day 86: Walk around Thessaloniki 2

    February 29, 2024 in Greece ⋅ ☁️ 19 °C

We continued our walk in Thessaloniki today. Visiting the Rotonda was particularly interesting as the only architecture that could be compared to Rotonda is the Pantheon in Rome. We also visited a few smaller Orthodox churches, which were quite mind-blowing as well.Read more
