    Go Jay's Go!

    July 1, 2025 in Canada ⋅ ☀️ 27 °C

We are off to the game. The car picks us up at Leslie's house and whisks us away to Toronto. The ride is enjoyable because I don't have to think about the traffic.

We get to the Roger's Center and find our gate. We take the elevator up to the 4th floor and find our suite. We are in Suite 430. There are two very nice young ladies there that welcome us. We get straw hats and Canadian flags. We also get our prepaid visa cards.Read more

  • Let's Explore the Roger's Center

    July 1, 2025 in Canada ⋅ ☁️ 26 °C

After reserving our seats, we head out to explore. We head down to level 1, but it is crazy busy. We found the Jays store, but the lineup was too long to get in. Then, we head up to the rooftop gallery. It is busy up here as well, but we have great photo ops. The roof is open today because it is a great day for a ball game.Read more

  • Canada Day Celebration

    July 1, 2025 in Canada ⋅ ☁️ 26 °C

We head back to our suite and grab some free food and drinks. We have vouchers for 4 alcoholic drinks, and my cousin doesn't drink. ;>). Our seats give us a great view of the ballpark, and we are in the shade! There is a little bit of a breeze, and we have cold drinks.

Since this is Canada Day, the Jay's put on a great celebration honouring Canada. They introduce 3 of Canada's long serving and distinguished people who have been given service awards. Next 225 of the Canadian Forces personnel bring out the Canadian flag. Both anthems are sung (ours getting a much louder applause). Then it is time for the game to start.

  • Innings 1 -3

    July 1, 2025 in Canada ⋅ ⛅ 26 °C

It is a disappointing 1st inning with New York getting the first 2 runs of the game. Gausman is on the mound, and we are hopeful for a win.

The 2nd inning is blanked. So, we haven't lost any ground. That also means that we haven't gained any either.

The 3rd inning started with the first 2 batters getting on for New York. However, they were stranded. The Jay's were 3 up and 3 down.

  • Finally Some Excitement-Innings 4 to 6

    July 1, 2025 in Canada ⋅ ⛅ 26 °C

The 4th belonged to the Jay's with my fav, George Springer hitting a home run! Gimenez homers right after Springer, so now we are tied at 2. Next came Schneider with a single. Straw got on. Both of them got home as well. That's 4 runs in the 4th.

The 5th was a no hitter on both sides. Gausman has left the game now with over 90 pitches.

The 6th saw 2 left on base for New York.

  • What a Finish-Innings 7-9

    July 1, 2025 in Canada ⋅ ⛅ 26 °C

The 7th is where the wheels fall off. New York scores 2 runs on errors from the Jays. The bottom of the 7th is where we shine. Clement singled to left bring home Gimenez. George homered again, bringing in Heineman, Barger, and Clement! A grand slam for my buddy Springer bringing in 4 runs. 9-4 now.

New York got one in the 8th, and now it is 9-5. The bottom of the 8th and Clement, Lukes, Barger and Gimenez and George come through again! We won 12-5.

A little more about our suite amenities. We have delicious food that includes chicken wings, hot dogs, pasta and Caesar salads, and pizza to start. Then came the crab claws, shrimp, and bruschetta. For 6 brought out the Hagen Dazs. Could life get any better?

  • Let's Get Home

    July 1, 2025 in Canada ⋅ ⛅ 26 °C

Now, the way out of Roger's Center is another story. We have to make our way to Front Street. We have to go through the tunnel to get over the tracks. We are swimming up stream in a sea of people. Rude people at that. We finally make it to the car. Very sweaty in my world.

We head out of the madness called downtown Toronto to the serene quiet of Hamilton. I think the best thing about today was to put a smile on the lady who does so much for others that she often will forget to do things for herself. Love you, cousin!
