    Farewell Committee

    December 17, 2023 in Switzerland ⋅ 🌙 1 °C

Lani turned 50 on December 11 and Chuni will do so on the 22nd.

For every decade we are on the road for 1 week!!! Sometimes longer, sometimes shorter our families and dear friends accompany us.

The journey starts in Bern at the train station. Tom, Lorenzo, Zoe and Riccardo, who will be following us, come to see us (Chuni, Lani, Noa and Joy) off. Thank you all! We take you with us in our hearts and minds.

We have asked all fellow travelers to leave their footprints here.

So this blog will be a little different this time. We are looking forward to this trip and to many wonderful memories!

  • Muskat

    December 18, 2023 in Oman ⋅ ☀️ 26 °C

I have to mention it here again! A lounge is the best place in the airport to refresh yourself and enjoy some peace and quiet. There are drinks, food and comfortable chairs.
We only have a short layover in Muscat. Nevertheless, we head straight for the lounge.
And are pleased that we are already halfway through the journey.

  • Thai Dinner by the River 🥰

    December 19, 2023 in Thailand ⋅ ⛅ 29 °C

We take a cab and set off at around 8.30pm. Our destination is the Asiatique Nigtmarkt by the river. We look for a restaurant where most of the Thais are. And order! Glass noodle salad, pork, fish and vegetarian Path Thai.

The fish is delicious and everything else is super tasty.
There's a castle by the river and we take the ghostly ride through the house.

  • 2. Night in BKK

    December 19, 2023 in Thailand ⋅ ⛅ 28 °C

Then another cab ride. Our destination is a club on the rooftop. Unfortunately, we don't have any IDs with us and we don't want to queue. So we walk a few steps to Mariotts. There's a rooftop bar with a DJ here too. The view is unbelievably beautiful. A few drinks, a few moves: our 2nd night in BKK is wonderfulRead more

  • We are ready for....

    December 22, 2023 in Thailand ⋅ 🌬 23 °C

    Thai-Poker!

The roof terrace is decorated for the monks' visit tomorrow.
After dinner with Noa-Jill and JoyLee, Chuni and I arrive home at 11pm. And everyone is waiting for us! Thai poker is on the program.

And Stevie Wonder's Happy Birthday Song at midnight! Happy birthday Chuni for your special birthday!

The gin is good, the night is wonderful and Mae and Lani are giggling like teenagers at 05.00.... The two party queens have emptied the gin and the cocktails were probably something special 🤷🏽‍♀️.

  • Pattaya - Beach And City Tour

    December 22, 2023 in Thailand ⋅ 🌬 28 °C

With the goal to buy a simcard and to eat dinner Noa ( the legend) and I ( the tourist) left the hotel. Confidently we walked to the nearest mall, where we quikly found the first part of our to do list.
Since the mall is positioned right next to the beach, we hurried over the street, put down our bags and walked into the ocean for the first time here in thailand.
We enjoyed the sunset behind the pier, while the second part of our todo list made itself more noticeable. We were hungry.
    We want sushi.
We quickly decided for a sushi restaurant within reasonable distance, that had a vegetarian and vegan menu.
After departure with a grab taxi we started to get the feeling the sushi place was further away than we thought.
There were bearly any people around , when we arrived and all the stores were empty as we tried to cross the street where the taxi dropped us of. The sushi place was easily located but empty aswell and offered no vegetarian and vegan menu.
We decided to leave and try our luck on the nearest night market. We got a glimpse of a subway and were even considering eating there if the night market turnes out to be a flop.
Sadly it did turn out to be a flop (for vegetarians). We decided to try our luck back in the city center to be also closer to out hotel again.
On the mission to find a grab taxi we had to realize ones again how far from the center we were. No driver was found and the only one that took us told us to cancel again because its to far away.
A problem appears and a solution is given to you by this organized country. A motorcycle-taxi, lucky for us hehe
We decided to call chun first to ask how much a ride usually costs. He offered to help us with the negotiation and we gladly accepted. We walked over to a driver in orange west, handed him the phone, let them negotiate, got on the bike and drove into the night.
Cruising through the city of pattaya, absolutely vibin and with complete trust in our driver.
We enjoyed the amazing view on all the houses and shops and the adrenaline not only inbetween the cars and other 100 motorcycles, also while almost crashing into 3 men falling on the street, curled up into a ball while hitting each other while a 4th guy tries to pull them apart. Our driver calmly guided us around and continued with no comment.
He dropped us of at the restaurant where chun and lani were having their birthday dinner with the whole family and friends. At this point a huge thank you again to let us be part of this beautiful ceremony today and the celebration of you two! Much love 🫶
The place where we had dinner was beautiful, with traditional thai dancing shows and our long longed for delicious dinner.
We ate, we drank, we thanked and we said good night.
We are tired but more than happy with our journey today, we did it for the plot. (Iykyk)
Good night to you readers, I hope you enjoyed my story.
    Ciao

  • Pattaya: Koh Larn

    December 23, 2023 in Thailand ⋅ 🌬 24 °C

It is very windy. The sea is choppy. The red flag is flying. Everyone advises us not to go today, but we go anyway! Chuni refuses to take a speedboat and insists on the normal ferry.

Koh Larn is a good 40-minute ferry ride from Pattaya. As soon as we arrive, we hire scooters and explore the island and swim in the warm sea.

We return an hour earlier than planned. Just as well, because by now only the ferries are still running. The sea is wild and the ferry almost seems to tip over in the waves.
We get ashore safely, unlike other ships that capsize. The wind is fierce and in hindsight: we were lucky!
