Day 39 - you learn something new …
13 oktober 2024, Spanien ⋅ ☀️ 20 °C
We have just the one full day here at Camping Repòs del Pedraforca, so we went for a hike this morning before it got too hot as it was forecast to get up to 23 today. The sunrise was stunning - well, I think it was, the reflection on the mountains certainly was beautiful
Although we are in mountain territory again, we found a relatively flat route from AllTrails and Strava so thought we would give that a go. Thankfully, for once, the route was exactly as we hoped! Charlie has a track record of following Strava routes that are borderline dangerous 😂
Unfortunately a lot of what we thought were tracks were also roads used by people to get to the trails to forage for mushrooms, so we couldn’t let Marla off lead - apart from one small bit we thought was fine, she disappeared completely in some bushes and then all we could hear was splashing….. she managed to find a little stream to have a paddle in! Unfortunately that was the end of the route, so back on the lead and we had to turn back and retrace our steps.
We did come across a group of people jumping off of a bridge, I can’t call it bungee jumping as it didn’t have much elasticity to it - more like controlled swinging.
Back to camp for lunch and we had a ready meal risotto that’s been hanging around in the fridge for a while. It was still in date but I think it was a panic buy from Charlie - he doesn’t even like risotto 🤦♀️. I thought it tasted like cream of mushroom soup with some rice in it - I quite enjoyed it 😂😂
A quiet afternoon for us. It was getting a bit warm, and I started to come up in a heat rash - I’m so delicate, so Marla and me hid in the van. She slept and I did some more crochet. Charlie was more energetic and did a camp workout.
I had a shower, which was ok apart from the shower head was so clogged up that the water came shooting out and went straight up, so it was like trying to shower under the strangest fountain… when I got back from my shower, Charlie was very happy as he had got his DIY on and replaced a spring in our kitchen worktop extension which means it’s usable again! It snapped about a week ago, and we sought a bit of advice about how we could do a temporary fix.
Not wanting to be outdone by Charlie - I made a discovery, turns out we have a fly screen in our bathroom! We had no idea and have been putting the blind up and down almost daily for the last 6 months, but neither of us realised there is a fly screen immediately behind the blind.
Dinner was a case of using up more things that had been hanging around a while. Gnocchi, tinned sweetcorn and veggie ‘chicken’ dippers that came with us from home in the freezer.
It’s been a strange evening at camp, suddenly almost all other caravan and motorhomers packed up and left. Seems a bit strange to us, but I guess it makes sense if they need to get back for work or school tomorrow morning and wanted to make the most of today.
We’ve packed up all our outside stuff so we can make a move quickly in the morning. We are heading a bit further west for our next campsite.Läs mer
