Day 46 - moving day again
20. oktober 2024, Spanien ⋅ ☁️ 20 °C
We moved on from Camping La Trapera today, heading towards Portugal but having one last stop in Spain before we cross the boarder. Today’s destination is Camping El Astral.
I loved the location of La Trapera but not so much the site. The toilets smelt very strange, and it just felt a bit odd.
We had one last walk up and down the river in the morning so Marla got some proper exercise. We should have left the site by 12, but with no one actually there running the camp, we were a bit more laid back and had lunch before heading out. I had another Spanish omelette - it was still a bit runny but very tasty. Charlie had cheese and oat crackers - we very much missed having fresh daily bread - but being Sunday everywhere in town was shut.
The drive today was pretty straightforward, the roads getting increasing larger until we hit the motorway for 150km.
We arrived and checked in no issues. The pitches are really big and we have one that you can drive through, so there isn’t really a front or back.
Marla made friends with the Bernese Mountain dog and Chocolate Lab on the pitch opposite us - when I say made friends, I mean she was surrounded by them, so she pulled herself free from Charlie and ran to the owners of the other dogs for protection 😂. She’s a funny girl.
We had a glass of wine (or two) in the sun before heading over to the camp bar / restaurant for a couple of beers and a cheesy pizza (which seems to be the safest vegetarian option).
We had a good heart to heart over dinner about what life is going to be life next year - what our expectations and fears were. It all got a bit deep - but we’ve had a lot of time in our own heads these last 45 days so it was good to be able to have an honest conversation about everything.
Marla was being her usual self over dinner, looking like she was asleep then barking her head of because someone walked past and disturbed her - so we decided to head back to the van for the night. We watched a couple of Silent Witnesses - it’s not going to be long until we’ve seen every single episode. I wonder what we will do in the evenings then! Hopefully it’ll soon be warm enough to sit outside soon - as we head to warmer areas.Læs mere
