Wai-O-Tapu, Geothermal Park

As Rotorua is so well known for the volcanic activity there, we didn’t want to leave without seeing some of the geothermal parks there. Rotorua is actually a super volcano, the crater is 22km (Rotorua Lake). Last time it erupted was 250,000 years ago, so it’s pretty safe, but there’s a lot of activity there. It was really interesting to experience! 🌋

Da Rotorua für seine vulkanischen Aktivitäten bekannt ist, wollten wir nicht weiterreisen, ohne einen der Parks im Geothermalgebiet besucht zu haben. Rotorua ist eigentlich ein sogenannter Supervulkan - der Krater ist 22 km lang (Rotorua Lake). Der letzte Ausbruch war vor ca. 250.000 Jahren, somit wohl recht ungefährlich.
