Ferry crossing. Everything is so relaxed here. We'd assumed we had missed the 1530 ferry, but they were still letting people on when we turned up late... So we drove on 😁

A great little ferry that took about 20 minutes and was quite a calm crossing, despite the wind!🌬️Okumaya devam et

Cliff walk and tea at Loop Head

We're now about a day behind on our travels. Getting caught up beach combing the last couple of days has cost us time, so we decided we'd eat at Loop Head, sleep further up the coast (were not allowed to camp here) and figure out what the next couple of days look like.

We're all pretty tired tonight, so I think we'll do the walks in the morning. But it looks beautiful!

We didn't walk the bridges last night as we were late getting to them, so decided to wait until morning and then we could see them properly.

It was a really good call. Not only was it daylight but it was also sunny and absolutely beautiful!

We walked and played for ages and got some really good footage on the bridge itself too.

They were originally three rock arches that spanned deep coastal incisions like bridges. Nowadays there is only one of these “bridges” – the other two dropped to the sea. It's really interesting how they're formed too, the relentless waves basically find weak spots in the stone and wear it away, sometimes forming arches below the surface that you're able to walk on. Resulting in 'bridges' which eventually also get eroded away and fall into the sea.Okumaya devam et

The Ross Slide

We played on them!! They're also very interesting. They consist of several metres of siltstone and overlying sandstone displaying a range of deformational features including recumbent folds (folds with horizontal hinge lines). Sand volcanoes are present on the upper surface of the overlying sandstone unit.

All of us, including Eric had a ball walking around on the rocks and climbing up and down the end part.

We almost boycotted this one and left it off our map! It's another waypoint that has a height restriction preventing anything over 2m from going in, which is a bit rubbish given the majority of people doing the WAW will be in campers or even small vans! 😞Okumaya devam et

Based on the holiday we've been having and how quiet and relaxed it has been, the arrival at the Cliffs of Moher was manic!

The weather was lovely and so I suspect that added to the volume of people. Ultimately we weren't bothered enough to queue for a parking space and work our way through the throng of people... So we headed off to Doolin Cave 😊Okumaya devam et

Almost Doolin cave

Having quickly moved on from throngs of people and queues at the cliffs of Moher, we got excited about visiting Doolin Cave and headed there.

As we approached the cave we noticed the donkeys (which Oscar is obsessed with at the moment) and everyone awww'd at them 😊

When we eventually got ourselves appropriately dressed and shoed for the cave and headed in the excitement grew. It was a guided tour and looked awesome!! 😁

...then we were told that the next available tour was 1.5hrs away 😳 everyone went very quiet. You could feel the disappointment of everyone and we kind of all just walked away in our own thoughts.

It had been a funny day.

Oscar then said... Can I at least go and say goodbye to the donkeys?

So we did... and it made him smile ❤️🫏Okumaya devam et

Some pretty scenery on the way to Galway

Disappointed that we were unable to visit Doolin Cave we decided to drive to Galway, dry the washing we did yesterday and source some toilet chemical from Halfords (we hope they sell it!).

This pretty little view was just the other side of a bay we passed, but as we were trying to be good and not stop every 5 minutes I took pictures as we went past!Okumaya devam et

Finding somewhere to stay tonight was definitely harder than it has been... and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed with the location having been spoilt so far!

But, as I readied the van and had a clean around whilst Andy and the little people played on the beach I noticed that other than the road, it's actually a lovely beach and the view is quite nice 🙂

By the time I was done cleaning and they came back to the van I had definitely lightened up about it and went down with Oscar and a cup of coffee whilst he made a 'birthday cake' 🤣Okumaya devam et

It's quite a nice view out and although it's chilly this morning the weather looks like it's going to be nice.

Yesterday morning at the Bridges has proved hard to beat. We've also found that waypoints are much harder to get to as there seems to be 2m barriers up at most of them 😞
