Sicky in a national park :( Tayrona!

    12 juillet 2023, Colombie ⋅ ☁️ 28 °C

Got the local bus from Santa Marta to Tyrona and I honestly think it’s one of the best things we’ve done in Colombia (makes it sound like we had a rubbish time but honestly was so funny) then had to moto taxi through a river (was not warned and shoes are still wet lol) up to an eco lodge. This was defo a booking error on my part, didn’t realise how far it was from the park and also that it was under construction so we were the only ones there lol. But was nice and we had our own lil hut and outdoor loo (scary pooping in the jungle)

Next day got up early to head into Tayrona. After realising we had no cash left - spent way more than we realised - we sent a last voice note to Finn to meet us after a 2 hour trek and made our way in. Trek was harder than I thought it was gonna be but good fun, saw some monkeys, snakes and lots of ants. The beaches were beauuuuuutiful and we saw our home for the night - hammocks in a shelter baso in the ocean! Was soooooo cool! Chilled on the beach and got my first burn :( it was bloody boiling. Finn finally made it (we had no faith) and then there were four! We ate at the restaurant and had a couple of beers, then it was an early night for us (so I thought)

Sleeping in the hammocks was pretty cool but it was v windy and I was feeling pretty sick all night - kinda felt and sounded like we were on a boat. Decided to get up to see the pretty sunrise and instead threw up down the side of the shelter (oops). Was convinced I’d woken the others but alas, they were sleeping soundly uncaring of my poor belly :( the sunrise was lively and after a solo morning swim I felt refreshed and ready to get going. After a bit more sunbathing (burning) the others finally awoke with Joe and liv also feeling pretty rough. We had brek and a shower - v cold - and started the long trek back. Poor joe was struggling and made it about 75% through before throwing up over a bridge - the sweat coming off him was also very impressive. But hey we made it. Saw more monkeys, had an ice lolly, bumped into some friends we met in Cartagena and finally made it out of the park. No service this whole time and was very anxious to check my results but all turned out good in the end. After a short taxi ride we made it to the next hostel almost completely incident free a poor Joe :(
