Made it to the Discovery caravan park. More evidence of mining the closer you get to Port Hedland and dirt is ‘ redder’ if that’s a word. PH is much more spread out than I thought it would be and hoping we get a chance to see a bit more of it before we leave for Eighty Mike beach in the morning. Dinner tonight was jacket potatoes with coleslaw and couscous & veg mix and meat patties. Picture is a view over ‘pretty pool’ to the south from the campsite. The pool is certainly not full - someone was saying last night that there hasn’t been a decent ‘recharge event’ for the aquifers since 2006. Anyway the town is here for the Iron Ore.... and trains pulling long long lines of trucks loaded with ore arrive all day and height it seems. The ore is then reloaded onto bulk carrier ships.Les mer
