  • Eighty Mile Beach

    June 15, 2019 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 26 °C

Travelling up from PH I was struck by a feeling that the hills beside us were tired from age and worn down from the weight of years. They seemed to be frowning on us. Then there were just piles of rocks laying close to ground level - all that was left of a once much larger hill. It really is an old weathered country. You get to the Eighty Mile beach caravan park through Wallal Downs Station. 10 kms of dirt road off the highway that was challenging for all bike and rider combinations although for different reasons. Pitched camp and then down to the beach with the bikes for a test of our sand riding skills- in my case they were nonexistent. Tide was well out but the sunsets are reputed to be beautiful so I’ll add a picture if I can get one. sunset and sunrise photosRead more
