Fitzroy Crossing

Second half of the day picked up cloudy skies so hot and humid when we arrived at the Tarunda Caravan Park on the west side of the river. More roadworks after the Derby turn off. Seems WA Roads burn the brush either side of the highway at regular intervals - just to about 50mtrs from the road mostly. Lots of burnt patches along the way. At a roadside stop met some interesting characters on two bikes and a road train ferrying tanker trailers to Broome. They had a ‘brew’ break and went on their way. Allan and I swapped bikes for a while which was interesting. Also interesting was dinner concocted from our stores plus random bits from the local IGA.
