Liljendal

This morning we picked up our hire car and drove up the lovely motorway to Liljendal. My great grandfather (ggf) came from this area. It was only 70km away so didn't take long. Such a beautiful little town. We went into the Municipal Office and spoke to some people. The lady, Carolina, took us to Garpom (where ggf grew up). An area made up of small farms. We had a look through their tiny museum which was a house dating from 1890 and was set up as such. Really cool. We then went on to Haddas Farm, where ggf was from. They have a weather vane with the date 1792- year farm was established. Not sure how old the house is, but possibly in ggf's time. I was very happy and at home the whole time we were there. Very kind and generous people. We got back to Helsinki around 3. Nicolo and I walked to and around the marina/port area. Very scenic. Tea at about 8. We walked back to hotel. The fellas have gone off for a couple more drinks. I am done for the day.Leggi altro
