Cathedral Trail

Old growth forest logging should be illegal.

Walking through the cathedral like forest convinced us this should be protected. Dianne and I spent about an hour on the trail, and learned that some of these trees are 800 years old, but most sprouted about 300 years ago after a forest fire opened the canopy.

The Devils Club,famous plant on the coastal forest. In Latin means horrible weapon hence the sharp thorns that inflicts painful wounds. There is a myth that they may be tipped with poison. The plant itself is beautiful with the large leaves and has pretty red berries when ripe.Leggi altro
