Prince-Bishops Residenz

I thought that this would house a great number of bishops. I was wrong. Only one lived here. The residenz (palace) was built between 1720 and 1744. It took another 36 years to finish the interior.

In 1945 most of the palace was destroyed. The frescos over the staircase and other rooms were spared. You can see some of the statues are missing pieces and how they were puzzled back together. The palace is slowly being restored to its original glory.Baca lagi
