Scenic Flight to Mount Cook Aoraki

This morning we woke to a cloudless sky and unlimited visibility. Good news, as we have a scenic flight planned to Mount Cook and the glaciers nearby. Our larger group is divided into smaller groups for three flights. Dianne and I along with our travel partners Liz and Alan join others on board a Cessna Grand Caravan for the journey. Our pilot is not young. He has about 11000 hours in both helicopters and fixed wing, and I don’t feel the need to ride along side of him for safety. The aviation weather forecast is for light winds and our pilot takes advantage of this and is able to fly close to the mountains. There is virtually no turbulence to scare people more than the proximity to the daunting peaks.Read more
