Last day in Christchurch

It isn’t immediately evident that Christchurch is still recovering from the 2011 earthquake, because there isn’t any ruins. It has all been carted away and paved over or repaired. The exception to this is the Christchurch cathedral. It is still a work in progress as local people try to raise the funding for repairs. A temporary cathedral has been constructed and we all were impressed by the sensibility of it. It has the aura of a cathedral but is obviously less expensive than any other we’ve seen.

We enjoyed a final meal, a few laughs and lots of stories with our friends. A wonderful group of people to travel with and hopefully we will keep in touch.Læs mere
