Cruise to BRAZIL

November 2025 Les mer
  • Leaving the Amazon

    28. november, Brasil ⋅ ☀️ 28 °C

Today is an “at Sea day” . We slept in; enjoyed breakfast in our room, went to the gym then spent the morning reading by the pool- does it get any better than that?

This afternoon after a lunch we spent an hour listening at a talk on crooners! Frank Sinatra, Bing and Sammy Davis Junior to name a few. Enjoyable 45 minutes and then back to the pool sipping pina colada(virgin) and margarita ( not so virgin)

So today we are leaving the Amazon….thoughts? Well a little disappointing if you were hoping to see wildlife. We thought we would see animals in the wild. We did get a peek at a few pink dolphins on our day at Parintins. I guess I should have gone swimming with them😀we had a fantastic day hike in Manaus (as advertised). We loved the small city of Parintins with the Boi Bumba show
    It was very good.

  • Another day at sea

    29. november, North Atlantic Ocean ⋅ ⛅ 27 °C

The American thanksgiving is over (except for all the football). Christmas is seen all over the ship now.

Today a gym workout and then another walk on the hamster wheel,
We dressed up for dinner & enjoyed a fine meal at the Polo Grill.Les mer

  • A little less Sea Sick

    30. november, North Atlantic Ocean ⋅ ☁️ 27 °C

As the title implies, Dianne is feeling like her sea legs are getting stronger. We have enjoyed many of the ships distractions, like live entertainment, games, arts and crafts, sitting by the pool, reading, and some excellent food. We are looking forward to getting off the ship in Barbados though. I am not thrilled with making bracelets, but if we spent another day at sea I might make one for Alan.
Tonight was the Captain’s Gala. We got dresses up for it and enjoyed ourselves. Later we sat in the lounge and listened to the music of Tom Petty.

  • Barbados

    1. desember, Barbados ⋅ ⛅ 29 °C

Our tour is advertised as an opportunity to take pictures. All of the tours are opportunities for photos, but this one is promoted that way. We found it disappointing because the photo ops were mostly from inside a bus through windows. It was a long bus ride with short stops that were crowded. Oh well. Just one more thing I have to get over.

But having recovered from our disappointment, the pictures we got were great!
Bathsheba park is on the Atlantic side of Barbados and has bigger waves for surfing. Not great for swimming
North point is a rugged shoreline with waves crashing against the coral rock that Barbados is situated on.
So here is me 25 years after my kids went to Barbados and I finally made it!

  • Dominica

    2. desember, Dominica ⋅ ☀️ 25 °C

Happy Birthday Liz! Happy Birthday Ryan!
We are riding in a bus around the mountains of Dominica. The destination is Jacko falls, where we are intending to swim. We’ll see. On the way are a couple of stops. The first is a scenic view of Roseau, the capital of Dominica and the second is the arboretum. Our guide spoke about the devastation of the last hurricane that ruined 95% of the foliage on the island. The arboretum has recovered, but not completely.Les mer

  • St Maarten

    2. desember, Sint Maarten ⋅ ☀️ 27 °C

With nothing planned for the day, we decided to go to Maho beach and watch the airplanes land. I haven’t done that in a while so it seemed like a good idea. Many others on the island thought the same so it was crowded on the approach path.Les mer

  • Jaco Falls fun! Then lunch

    2. desember, Dominica ⋅ ⛅ 26 °C

I wasn’t sure I wanted to go swimming but when everyone started taking off their clothes I didn’t want to be left out. It was refreshing. Everyone agreed on that. Next stop was lunch. It consisted of soup, rice, beans and salad. It was vegan and tasty. Everything served was from the local gardens.Les mer

  • Escambrón Beach

    4. desember, Puerto Rico ⋅ ⛅ 29 °C

We hopped in a Uber and went to Escambrón Beach!
What great idea this was! We went swimming with the fish! The water so clear and wonderfully warm. We could have stayed all afternoon. .We saw hundreds of fish.

Last stop on cruise and last opportunity to spend some time on a beach.

  • A day at sea!

    5. desember, North Atlantic Ocean ⋅ ⛅ 27 °C

Another gorgeous day, we will miss this! A brisk walk around the deck; an afternoon talk about inventions, coffee at the usual place, dinner and a final show/goodbye from all the staff.

The clocks roll back another hour as we get closer to home.Les mer

  • One more night!

    6. desember, Bahamas ⋅ 🌙 26 °C

Today up early and off to breakfasts. Another spectacular day!
For something different to do , we all went to the final BINGO game. Alas we came close but didn’t come thru for the big money.

Our last night, dinner at Toscano restaurant and final group photo on the stairs! Everyone knows I love stair photos.

This afternoon spent packing and getting organized for the flight home.

  • Long road home….

    7. desember, Forente stater ⋅ ☁️ 21 °C

Today like many days we had a coffee and muffin in our room and then when up for real breakfast. We had to get out of our cabin by 8am, waited for the ship to be cleared, signed out of ship and picked up our luggage.
    We were on our way!
We Ubered to the airport, suitcases a little on the heavy side, slipped through security and headed for the gate. Flight slightly delayed but we were on our way in no time. Bumpy flight, reminded me of rough seas.
Landed, cleared customs and found our way to the gate. Another delay but eventually we were called for the flight. We get almost to our seats and found out there was a mechanical issue and that we could not go SO back into the boarding gate! We wait and wait and wait….finally a food voucher….A & W here we come!

Back to a new gate and new airplane. We finally were airborne after a 4 hour delay. We are homeward bound,

  • Miami….last thoughts

    7. desember, Forente stater ⋅ ⛅ 24 °C

25 days seemed like a really long time but in reality
It has flown by. We have travelled a total of 6,678 nautical miles through the beautiful Caribbean and into the Amazon in Brazil.

We have enjoyed our excursions, some more than others.

We have enjoyed the sea days. We took in everything the ship had to offer; gym days, coffee at the Baristas, lunch and dinners on the open deck, drinks poolside, mini golf, corn hole and even ping pong!

And did we eat! There was never a shortage of food. We enjoyed our lazy breakfasts in our room, lunch on the deck and dressed up for formal dinners!

The people we met on the ship were easy to get along with and the crew of our vessel was excellent. Dianne and I agree that one of the highlights of the trip was watching the clear water of some of the contributory rivers to the Amazon flow side by side to the muddy water of the Amazon.
Being guided to the village at Boca da Valeria by a local schoolgirl was a pleasant experience for both of us.

All in all we had a great trip and thoroughly enjoyed the experiences we had. Once again a great trip with good friends.
