  • Bay of Plenty

    10. januar, Bay of Plenty ⋅ ☀️ 70 °F

    Tauranga, New Zealand
After a good night's sleep, headed to Lake Rotoiti for some kayaking. Beautiful lake owned by the Mauri tribe who rents the lakeside homes out for revenue to fund scholarships for their kids. Kayaked across the lake to some hot pools fueled by volcanic water. Ate a traditional lunch of meat pies and then kayaked back against a very brisk breeze and waves to a small, very claustrophobic cave (for me! But I faced my fear and survived!) to see the glow worms which are actually the poop of insect larvae ( look it up Justin). Drove past the kiwi farms. Great day for scenery and exercise!!Læs mere

  • Hawke's Bay

    12. januar, New Zealand ⋅ ☁️ 73 °F

Napier, New Zealand in Hawke's Bay
This stop was a town known for it's Art Deco recreation after a devastating earthquake in the 40's. We went wine tasting since that is a major source of income here and just walked the town. As we head south towards the bottom of New Zealand the weather is cooling down and getting windy.Læs mere

  • Wellington, Wellington New Zealand

    13. januar, New Zealand ⋅ ☀️ 61 °F

Arrived in Wellington the capital of New Zealand. Interesting city surrounded by suburbs perched on the hillsides despite being very earthquake prone. Walked around the city in the AM and then drove by 4x4 up through the hills to a wind farm and fur seal area. Incredible scenery thanks to a sunny day. Apparently, it's the windiest place on earth which I may agree withLæs mere

  • Hobart, Tasmania

    19. januar, Australien ⋅ 🌬 66 °F

    Hobart, Tasmania
After 3 days at sea, we stopped in Hobart, Tasmania so we have officially touched our 7th continent. We didn't have any excursion until the evening so we decided to walk and see where it would take us. Came across the most beautiful Botanical Garden! It had such diversity highlighting the variety of growing zones in Australia. David loved the ferns! Our excursion was in the evening and took us for a wildlife sanctuary for rescued animals and birds. Feed and scratched some kangaroos, enjoyed the different marsupials including the famed Tasmanian Devil and wombats. Very impressed with this countryLæs mere

  • Hobart, Tasmania

    20. januar, Australien ⋅ 🌙 61 °F

Another day in Hobart which was nice. I really enjoyed this area. For such an isolated place surrounded by mountains and sea, it had such a diverse, beautiful, cultural environment. I seriously could have spent another day here. Today, just walked the city center-so many ethnic restaurants and shops then did a bus tour (which I thought would be lame but was excellent) . We went back to the botanical gardens but with sunshine and clear skies, drove through the interesting neighborhoods built by the convicts from England who helped build and populated this area. Then twisty, turny ride up the top of Wellington Mt for an amazing view. Leaving Tasmania and headed to the mainland.Læs mere

    24. januar, Australien ⋅ ☀️ 73 °F

After a day at sea, we arrived in Eden. Short time here-did an oyster experience where we went out on the Pambula River and was educated on their oyster farming. After an unexpected 3 days at sea- we were supposed to stop at Mooloolaba but the swells were too big for the tenders. • Komodo Island

    7. februar, Indonesien ⋅ ☁️ 82 °F

After 2 days at sea, arrived at Komodo Island- a very isolated Island with only 2000 people on it as well as the creatures. Saw quite a few Komodo dragons. Very serene and beautiful. Celebrated David's 70th birthday in style. From our butler, to people we have met on the ship to the crew, he was celebrated. Sailing to BaliLæs mere

  • Interior Bali

    9. februar, Indonesien ⋅ 🌧 81 °F

Day 2 of Bali. Did an excellent excursion to the interior of Bali. First stop was a traditional home of the people who live there. Love seeing how people really live in these areas. As always, it makes me appreciate where I live but I do see the importance of family wherever I go. Then, we drove on to the rice terraces. Absolutely gorgeous!! Had a delicious buffet lunch at a local place. Of course, enjoyed the rice. Last stop was a lovely temple (I am not a temple enthusiast but this one was so lovely). Was instructed to do some mental cleansing and learning to focus on the positive. Long drive back to the ship but was able to see what life is like in this regionLæs mere
