At JFK where the players got to meet their teammates. Plenty of time for team bonding while Debbie and I relaxed in the Priority Plus lounge. Free cocktails and quite a buffet and comfy seats. In about an hour our flight leaves for Paris. Hoping it is a quiet flight for some Zzzzzz’s. That’s Rocco, front and center.Read more

Was it really today that we landed in Paris? It seems so long ago! A bus took us to our hotel where we checked in, dropped our bags and hit the bricks. First off was lunch at PB (Poulet Braise). Then we visited the Eiffel Tower taking several
Subways, walking and climbing stairs. Debbie and I enjoyed sitting at a cafe there while several players climbed the stairs up to the top. The trek there and back was enough for me Getting to the hotel at 9 PM, I had had enough, while Debbie and Rocco went to dinner

Uber and the Hop on Hop off bus were my friends. We saw very old and very modern architecture. We shopped in a unique food market with several shops and restaurants. where also had lunch. My first experience with Indian food, then we met the group at the Louvre where we made friends with Mona. Then we took Rocco clothes shopping since his missing luggage has yet to arrive. • Normandie

    June 27, 2024 in France ⋅ ⛅ 68 °F

Today we all took a bus trip to Omaha Beach, the Musee De Normandie in Caen and the American cemetery where over 9000 WW II US soldiers’ graves (and one from WW I) are located. Baquette sandwiches and fruit were on the bus for us and it was a perfect day to enjoy them together. Communication has been a real problem for the last couple of days, with international roaming cell service being down. We haven’t been able to make calls, send texts or use data while away from the hotel. That’s why I took a pic of the communication equipment used in WW II used in the Bunker, which looked very antiquated, but appears to have worked better than cell phones. After the long ride back to Paris, dinner was at the hotel.Read more

The official games began. Rocco’s team won all three of their games. At the end of the day they were in first place!
After the games the three of us went to a different area of France, where Rocco enjoyed shopping. We found a quaint French restaurant. “Entrees” here are our appetizers, and we shared some escargot. Rocco had a beef dish, Debbie, some spicy mussels in a wine sauce and my “plat” of duck with fig jam and house potatoes was delicious. We shared poached pears with gelato in a red wine sauce for dessert. As if that were not enough we stood in a long line to enjoy some sculptured gelato before heading back to the hotel for the night.Read more
