Heading off bright and early, looking forward to seeing Trav and Abi tonight 🥰

  • Port Macquarie lunch stop

    July 14, 2022 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 14 °C

Called into Port Macquarie for lunch, found 'Little Shack' which was lovely though quite empty today because the weather isn't all that great!. But lovely food and a nice view.

  • Overnight stay

    July 15, 2022 in Australia ⋅ 🌙 7 °C

Driving into Newcastle, Google diverted us off the highway and through Raymond Terrace the back way and we we amazed to see how high the water still was with paddocks under water up to the houses and livestock standing on the only high ground around.
Had a beautiful dinner with Trav and Abi, though we were taking so much I totally forgot to get a photo, which I was so upset about once we left. But the cruiser was spotted and photos sent to Dave and Naomi reporting our whereabouts 😄.
Ended up staying at the Catalina Motel in Toronto, the bed was so comfortable and the shower hot!
Another early start today, aiming for Lakes Entrance in Victoria

  • Lakes Entrance

    July 15, 2022 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 4 °C

Another early start, stopping just outside of Goulburn for breakfast to a chilly 3 degrees, that definitely woke us up! Then onto Cooma for lunch and a walk around before the final leg of today's trip to Lakes Entrance. It was dark before we arrived so didn't see too much on our way in. Looking forward to checking out the scenery on our way to Glenmaggie tomorrow morning 🤗Read more

  • Tim Coleman Enduro Training

    July 16, 2022 in Australia ⋅ ☁️ 7 °C

We left Lakes Entrance at 7am. I was so surprised that the sun still wasn't up!
Stopped for breakfast at Bairnsdale and then headed to Glenmaggie arriving around 9:45 ready for a 10am start.
Have pretty much no signal here at all so be interesting if this uploads 😄
Bart is certainly in for a big day, me not so much 🤗

  • Tim Coleman Training Day 2

    July 16, 2022 in Australia ⋅ ☁️ 10 °C

Great day yesterday watching the training in the morning, then the group left to head to another section of the property, Tim is on over 1,000 acres! So I rugged up, sat in the sun and read 🤗

Last night was super windy but our little iKamper rooftop tent was snug, warm and dark. After hearing the wind and rain though the night I totally expected to get out this morning to a dark overcast rainy day!

But on unzipping the door it was a beautiful, fresh and sunny morning!

After breakfast Bart and I hiked to the top of the hill (where they had ridden the day before - definitely easier riding country than walking) saw one rabbit and lots of rabbit holes on the way up, you had to watch your footing! Such a beautiful view and they back onto forestry as well, if we lived closer I'd say Bart would be over here all the time!

Training started at 10 and they all headed off, I just managed to get the washing up done before a rain band hit. So then it was running around putting chairs into the trailer and generally getting as much out of the rain as I could.

Now sitting in the Cruiser writing this watching the clouds and rain pass and blue sky appear 🥰

  • Bairnsdale to Berridale

    July 18, 2022 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 7 °C

We ended up packing up in a hurry after the training finished yesterday, it was all hands on deck, Bart got the rooftop tent down in record time before the rain hit. I had been watching the dark clouds come closer and closer. Then when the group arrived back, we made the decision to pack up camp and head into town (save packing up a wet camp in the morning)

We got into Bairnsdale and found a motel for the night. Bart was very happy to have a hot shower and listen to the rain outside.

We were up and out early, grabbed some breakfast and headed to Dave and Naomi's property at Berridale, driving though some lovely countryside and past wind farms before arriving at lunchtime.

Bart headed out straight after lunch to explore and only came back because it was getting too cold 🥶 and started to get wood ready for a fire tonight. Think we are going to need it ❄️

  • Berridale/Jindabyne

    July 19, 2022 in Australia ⋅ ☁️ 4 °C

After a chilly night (-4) we woke to a beautiful wonderland of white. I thought I'd heard a little rain though the night but it ended up being snow. I was so excited and out of bed much quicker than normal 😄 I wanted to get photos before the sun came up and it all disappeared.

After walking around admiring the scenery we got around to making bacon and eggs for breakfast and enjoyed them, listening to the snow melt off the car and tent.

Bart got onto Dave and we were able to borrow their farm Landcruiser to take me into Jindy to get the stitches out of my hand (yay - really looking forward to not having to bag my hand when I shower). Made it so much easier than packing up the rooftop tent as the side that wasn't in the sun still had snow on it when we left at 10! Had some lunch in at Banjo's and then headed back so Bart could get some riding in before it got too cold.

Dave and Naomi arrive tonight, so looking forward to seeing around the place with them tomorrow 🤗

  • Berridale to Crookwell

    July 21, 2022 in Australia ⋅ ☁️ 8 °C

Had a lovely couple of days in Berridale each morning was completely different - snow, frost and then rain this morning when packing up 🙄

Went into Jindy with Dave and Naomi yesterday for coffee and a look around then back to the farm for the afternoon (though Naomi ended up driving me back into Jindy to exchange a vest I bought) then Naomi and I went for a walk while Dave and Bart got the chainsaw and trials bike out and started cutting some trails in up the creek!

This morning Dave, Naomi, Mary and Tim headed off bright and early for the snow and we started packing up in the misty rain.

We headed off for Crookwell, stopping at a super cute little town called Gunning for lunch (which was established in 1820) before arriving in Crookwell just before 4pm and checked into the local small caravan park.

  • Crookwell to Bathurst

    July 22, 2022 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 9 °C

This morning we packed up in the misty rain and headed into town to grab a coffee before heading off. Though we did find when we went to use the camp kitchen to eat breakfast that the rest stop kitchen had a fireplace in it which we didn't realise last night or would have made use of it 🤦🏽‍♀️

Crookwell is such a lovely little town with some great architecture and some lovely old buildings in it, was worth a drive around.

The drive between Crookwell and Bathurst was lovely with some really quaint townships along the way.

We headed to Wattle Flat and dropped off the trailer at the AHEC site before doing a couple of laps around Mount Panorama 🤗

We have an early start tomorrow with the sweeps briefing starting at 7am then Bart will be off on track, busy most of the day. I think this event will be a little quieter for me as Denise the lady organising it has three of us helping this time instead if just me.

  • AHEC Wattle Flat

    July 23, 2022 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 7 °C

Up early this morning for a 7am start at Wattle Flat. Fortunately it was an uneventful trip (we had been warned to keep a close eye out for kangaroos, wallabies and goats on the road)

Was all hands on deck on arrival, signing riders in, selling t-shirts & hoodies and answering questions. Was definitely much easier with the number of helpers this time.

Was a very dusty day but great watching the prologue and juniors race, pretty amazing to see them getting around some sections.

Heading back into Bathurst for tea, hot shower and an early night! 😴

  • Day 2 Goldfields Extreme

    July 24, 2022 in Australia ⋅ 🌙 8 °C

We woke to a super misty morning which made driving to Wattle Flat interesting seeing we could hardly see! Bart said "if we make it without hitting something we'll be doing well!" We fortunately made it without seeing any wildlife 🤗

Day two starts quickly with the gold class setting off at 8am after that there isn't much to do but wait (for me anyway 😄) I'd made Bart a sandwich so he had some lunch with him in case he wasn't able to get back in (when we were at Mt Morgan he left at 8 and didn't get back in till after 3!) Fortunately today he was able to come back in and sit down to eat lunch before heading back out again. He did over 5 hours of pretty hard riding again today!

It's so much fun being on the finish line waving the flag and cheering the guys and girls over the line, especially when my cute husband comes back in (he's a softy and looks out for the girls on the track, following Anj in this time. She was so stoked to compete two laps).

We were able to get away earlier than expected and headed off for Mudgee arriving in time to have drinks before tea at a really cute Brewery called Three Tails then tea at the Mudgee Brewery.

End of a big weekend, not really looking forward to our big drive home tomorrow.

  • Back into Queensland

    July 25, 2022 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 5 °C

Unfortunately we have to get home today and can't stay and look around Mudgee or take our time getting back.

So got up early again and headed off, there was a light frost all over the 79 and trailer. The morning was misty and after leaving the motel at 6am and we were still driving through the mist scouring the roads for wildlife till about 10am!

There are some really beautiful towns, in northern NSW and it would have been nice to stop and explore Gulgong, but not this time. Was also hard to drive through Coonabarabran without heading out to the Warrumbungles National Park! But we refrained and continued north. The roads are terrible they really need some attention!

We arrived in Goondiwindi at lunchtime and had to get out of our puffer jackets and Ugg boots as soon as we got out of the car! It was 15 degrees warmer than we had been in for the last week and a half! You could tell we were back in Queensland 😄

Now for the last stretch, Google says 4.5 hours but sure it will feel much longer than that!

  • Home again

    July 26, 2022 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 22 °C

We got home safely last night, so nice to sleep in your own bed again. Though getting back into Brisbane during peak hour was a bit of a shock to the system after a few weeks of driving through smaller townships.

We have had such a lovely couple of weeks away, it was a great trial run for Tasmania (coming up in September 🤗) but always nice to be home again. Was even nicer to arrive home and see Jamin and Talecia who have been staying at our place while we were away. Indy and Kyla were also super happy to see us.

This morning I had my check up with the Surgeon who worked on my hand and he was very happy with the amount of movement I had back and I was able to get my splint cut down so now it's just over my hand, not up my arm as well which I'm so happy about.
