A religious musuem we've never noticed before, small but interesting. Covers main religions from around the world, teaching the basics with some religious items also on show.

It delved into the issue of religion causing massacres too, with frequent mentions of the holocaust and Bosnian massacres (which we had learnt more about during our visit to Mostar a couple of years ago).

Beautifully presented and interesting place to wander.

  • Balsall Common, Solihull, England

    September 5, 2024 in England ⋅ ☁️ 16 °C

A trip to see the Innes at home. We enjoyed a lovely pub lunch at Ye Olde Saracen's Head (usually a place for Christmas eve knees up I learnt!) with Geoff, Rach and Alasdair. When Felicity and Adeline returned home from school we played some games with them and read bedtime stories.

Hopefully it won't be another year till we get to catch up with them again!

Felicity loved her Japanese travel card with a penguin on, she's promised not to lose it as she'll need it for when she gets to Japan at some point!

  • Dudley Castle and Zoo, Dudley, England

    August 31, 2024 in England ⋅ ☀️ 18 °C

A very chaotic day at Dudley Zoo! We went with Stacey, Donna, Leanne and Hallie, Jodie, Terry and Emelia, Braylon and Corey. The kids very much enjoyed the play areas around the zoo, as well as spotting the animals as we wandered around.

We managed to jump on the train up the hill as we arrived, which was much appreciated when we realised how steep the climb would have been. We had lunch in the middle of the castle which was tasty, if a little overpriced, and the children enjoyed playing in the large grassed area.

It was lovely to catch up with everyone and spend some quality time with Emilia (who remembers us as the Bearded Man and the Girl!), and actually meet Hallie, and Braylon and Corey.

  • Carsington Water, Derbyshire, England

    August 30, 2024 in England ⋅ ⛅ 17 °C

Katie and Stacey drove us to Carsington Water to enjoy a long walk with Willow and Martha. It was surprisingly hot for the walk, and there was some beautiful views of the water. We stopped at a bench for a picnic lunch, sharing some with the dogs while we rested.

After about 9 miles all the way round we were all suitably tired and got some ice cream (and doggy ice cream) as a treat afterwards. Willow and Martha were very well behaved, and enjoyed snoozing in the car on the way home!

    August 28, 2024 in England ⋅ ☁️ 22 °C

No photos as it was a manic day that we spend seeing Geoff, Rach, Felicity, Adeline, and Alasdair, and Chud, Felix and Dexter. We had a picnic at the start of the trail close to the children's play area. We then walked around the gruffalo trail, finding each character for the kids to climb before moving on. We were quite exhausted at the end of the day!Read more

  • Shrewsbury, Shropshire, England

    August 26, 2024 in England ⋅ ☁️ 18 °C

A day out without the dogs with Stacey, Katie, and Donna. We've visited Shrewsbury before and enjoyed it, and it was just as nice as we remembered. We enjoyed a bit of shopping, settled on Wetherspoons for a cheap lunch, and indulged in some beautiful gelato.Read more

  • Telford, Shropshire, England

    August 25, 2024 in England ⋅ 🌬 16 °C

We went with Donna and her friend Emily to see a balloon festival which Stacey was working at. We stopped off at Telford shopping centre to see the frog clock so that Luke could tick it off Atlas Obscura, and picked up a cheeky Gregg's.

Unfortunately it was too windy for the balloons at the festival so we only managed to see a basket there!

We wandered around the park and the rest of the festival, until we ended up in an Alice in Wonderland area that we should have paid for. After being escorted out we met up with Stacey, Katie, Willow and Martha before Stace did a bit of work.

A most random but enjoyable day!

  • Holt, Norfolk, England

    August 21, 2024 in England ⋅ 🌬 20 °C

A day trip out for us all, and we headed to Holt to enjoy some window shopping. Stopped for a fantastic lunch before we got into Holt, best eggs royale I've had in ages!

Holt was a classic picturesque town with a great selection of shops selling beautiful wares, shame we don't have a home currently. We enjoyed a sweet treat in a cafe before heading back.Read more

Lovely day trip out! We had lunch with Lucy and Tetley in the rain, enjoying fish and chips and pizza. A look around some very cute vintage shops, and a farmshop, and then onto the beach for a little walk. Tetley enjoying a little bit of playing, but loved the tasty sand more.Read more

Some pretty flowers in Steph's garden! We had a lovely stay seeing family and eating good home cooked food. Weather was beautiful most of the time too. We managed to get some odd jobs done before we left, so we didn't feel too lazy enjoying a drink in the evening!Read more

  • Welbeck Estate, Worksop, Nottinghamshire

    August 10, 2024 in England ⋅ ☁️ 20 °C

A day out for a treat after finishing our garden jobs! A lovely lunch in the cafe, a stroll around the gift shop and modern art gallery (my favourite was a sunset over fields made from felt), and a wander around an musuem which had a Michelangelo sketch and a earring worn by Charles || at his execution. We finished by having a wander around the garden centre and farm shop, leaving with some spice packets for some meals later on in our trip!Read more

  • Lincoln, Lincolnshire, England

    August 8, 2024 in England ⋅ ☁️ 20 °C

We enjoyed a meal at The Lawns with my Mum, Dad and Laura, before exploring the castle with just Laura (and Luke and I). The castle was very interesting with lots to see, and we started by viewing the Magna Carta.

We continued onto the prison, which was split into male and female side. The exhibits inside were educational, with some fun games added in too. The chapel was possibly the most interesting part, as the congregation stands split into individual sections.

We were also able to walk around the castle walls, which had fantastic views of the city. After exiting we strolled to see the cathedral, happy that we were able to enter part without having to pay. Final stop was Highbridge, a bridge with a timber frame building sitting over it which is currently a cafe.

A lovely day in a lovely city!

  • Newark, Nottinghamshire, England

    Jul 31–Aug 12, 2024 in England ⋅ ⛅ 27 °C

We visited Newark a couple of times, but quickly saw the issues my parents had been complaining about. Still a cute town to wander around, but somehow the charm seems to have been lost. I enjoyed looking around the charity shops for a pair of jeans, and the market had a nice veg stall and Indian street food snacks that we enjoyed too. The church is possibly the prettiest part, with some cute squirrels as well.

My parents house is a drive away from Newark in a surrounding village, so we did struggle on the bus with bad traffic (especially Fridays!).
