Day 30

After having a lie in we headed out to explore Sao Luís. It was pretty bizarre, it’s so Portuguese and colonial it genuinely feels like we are in Europe. The whole vibe of the place transported us. Tiling on all the buildings and colourful extravagant decor lined the streets. It was really pretty and a nice vibe. We then found a market to walk through, enjoying the various trinkets they were selling. There was also a lot of Jamaican influence I’m guessing from the slave trade. We then found a spot for lunch and enjoyed some beef and fish for Keira. After this Keira headed back to the hostel feeling she could do with a rest and relax post bus as she didn’t feel 100%. I stayed out longer to wander around and take some pictures of the buildings. I also went into a church that I think is still an active monastery of some kind as it has a lovely courtyard surrounded by worship rooms etc. I then headed back to join Keira at the hostel and get an early night as we have a bus at 7am tomorrow!Leggi altro
