Fukuoka Redux & Karatsu

After Breakfast I took the 8:30 Shuttle Bus to the Station, but I decided against using local trains to get back to Hakata and paid for a Shinkansen that brought me to Fukuoka in around 90 minutes. It was the first time in a Sakura and I liked the interior and comfortable space. Once in Fukuoka I dropped my luggage off at the Hotel and then used my 4th day of the Seishun 18 Kippu Ticket to visit Karatsu, a castle town on the north-western coast of Kyushu. It was freezingly cold and snowflakes were falling in between, I walked to the Castle and took an interesting and cheap 45 degre angle elevator to the top. The castle was small but sweet and offered unhindered views over the area and a nice collection, albeit only with japanese descriptions. Most importantly I got another castle stamp to decorate my passport with. They also had lots of information about local craftsmanship, especially pottery in a new building that reminded me of Yakushima since it was smelling strongly of cedar wood. Once I had seen enough and bought some small souvenirs, also a postcard that I sent right away from the local post office, I returned to Hakata. The rest of the day I spent resting. I have some sleep to catch up with and would like to rise a little earlier to make a final daytrip tomorrow, most likely to Oita Prefecture.
