Sunday tasks and Crypt/Cathedral

Today was a day of tasks and a last ditch effort to go inside at least one history site! We accomplished both!! We started with a very nice breakfast at our hotel. They offer a great selection of sliced meats, cheeses, yogurt w/toppings, cereal, and toast as well as eggs /bacon/sausage, coffee, tea or juice for 13Euros. Then off to the main train station to figure out how to get where we need to go tomorrow with our luggage.

Four blocks to metro/subway, three stops to the central train station. Then it was a series of small errors to find our way to the out of town trains. Best thing we found along the way was a charger that attaches by magnet in the outer case of my cellphone. So it can charge en route! Once we got things somewhat figured out, we headed back to the hotel. We had purchased a 10 ride metro ticket for 6euros when we arrived in Spain. We can both ride on the same ticket. So far we’ve used 6 rides.

Once back at the hotel, we packed up the dirty clothes and went off to find a laundromat. It was a ten minute walk. 5 euros to wash - includes detergent, softer and oxygen- not sure what that’s all about - but 30 minutes later it was ready for the dryer. Another 34 minutes and laundry was done. Yes I mixed jeans with shirts and underwear and socks ! That’s typically totally against my grain but gotta do what you gotta do lol! While waiting for it to do its thing, we got coffee and a snack from a local coffee shop. This laundromat was right I the square where they have a Sunday market - no food just all kinds of clothing, jewelry and artwork.

Once ‘home’ again, headed in the opposite direction to visit the crypt and cathedral. The palace was closed.

Crypt was disappointing in that the dates of the deceased were from the last 30 years or so. The side chapels had historical importance but nothing in the main area.

The cathedral was beautiful but not as ornate as I would have expected.

We headed back down side streets where we stopped at a restaurant for dinner. This time we had smoked salmon with cucumbers, radishes and chopped dill pickles. And roasted chicken and potatoes. Both were delicious and not terribly adventurous but that can wait for another day!
