We had a reasonable flight time of 11:13 am. So we left the hotel at 8 am by taxi. I didn’t know that the Madrid airport is the second largest coming in behind Charles deGaul in Paris. For being so large and busy security and passport control was very efficient. We headed up to the lounge to have breakfast and wait for our flight time. We used up our remaining euros by purchasing Spanish candy for the kids and a some snacks for the flight. We always gift our flight attendants with a bag of Lindt mixed chocolates is honor of Lyndsey’s best friend, Cecy, who is an international flight attendant with United. Sometimes but not always, they treat us back with a free glass of wine and the toiletry bags.

Rod didn’t want anything since his belly has been such a mess so they gave me not one but two little bottles of red wine lol! It was half way through the flight so time to drink and sleep it off lol!

So the flight is seven hours. As I got up to use the bathroom, I discovered that our back section of the plane is pretty much empty! Every row has a max of two people. Most are only one and most are stretched out on all three seats sleeping. So although we don’t have ‘preferred’ seating, we certainly are not cramped for space.

Good flight to Miami with 3 hours left to get to Pittsburgh!

We had dinner at Chili’s. Good to have a good old American burger. We enjoyed our time in Spain but not the food so much.

Flight was delayed 90 minutes after we had boarded. However the pilot made up 45 minutes flying up to Pittsburgh. After being up for basically 24 hours, it was so good to get into our own beds☺️
Thank you Lord for safe travels!
