• Day 6: Rome

    March 25 in Italy ⋅ ⛅ 16 °C

We had the most gorgeous weather this whole trip, but Day 6 was EXTRA gorgeous!

We started the morning walking to Bacco Bistro for cappuccinos and pistachio/plain croissants. Then we walked to the Key Hole of the Knights of Malta which was an incredible, historic view of St. Peter’s Basilica. There was an amazing guitar player while we waited for our turn at the Key Hole, and we walked at through the Orange Garden afterward!

Then we made our way to the Roman Forum and Colosseum, which were both absolutely stunning. So crazy to think how much history is on those grounds.

We then stopped for lunch (aperol spritz’s, pizza, bruschetta, and caprese salad), and made our way to the Scala Santa. This is a church that has stairs that Jesus himself walked — you can only ascend them on your hands and knees while praying. There is also a remnant of a chair that Jesus sat in, and a tomb that once held the heads of saints. It was a breathtaking experience to see the stairs❤️

Then we walked and shopped on our way home, including a stop for sorbet (lemon and basil flavors), and tried some limoncello!

Once we got back to our neighborhood, we enjoyed some fun performers in the Piazza before getting ready for dinner. We chose Osteria Der Belli to try some authentic seafood - oysters, puntarelle alla romana, and delicious lobster pasta!! Our waitor brought us back in the kitchen for a second too :) So cool!

We then enjoyed some gelato, walked through our cute neighborhood, and had one last glass of wine at Mate Bar before heading back home to pack😥
