Certains d'entre-vous ont suggéré qu'on allait à Milan pour voir les Jeux Olympiques… 😅 Eh bien… non ! On a mis le cap dans cette direction sans se douter que les JO y avaient lieu juste au même moment. On réalise alors à quel point on est déconnectés 😆 du monde.

Angélique a déniché des hôtes à seulement 30 minutes de train de la ville, prêts à nous accueillir pour 2 nuits. Merci à Cesy, Sylvi et leur petit garçon Martino (avec qui on a appris à dire le nom des couleurs en italien) 🙏

Vélos posés 🚲 , on peut explorer Milan tranquillement, sans contraintes ✨

On a pu découvrir :

- Le château des Sforza 🏯 c’est une forteresse construite au XVe siècle par Francesco Sforza duc de Milan.

- La cathédrale de Milan (Duomo) 🏰 le début de sa construction date de 1386. Cinq siècles et demi ayant été nécessaires pour l'achever en 1932.

- La Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II 🛍️. Il y a mosaïque au centre de la galerie, on y trouve une représentation du blason de Turin (un taureau sur fond d'azur). Une légende raconte que faire trois tours sur soi-même avec le talon droit posé sur ses parties génitales porterait chance.

- Il Dito 🖕🏽 Maurizio Cattelan a offert la statue à la ville de Milan à la condition expresse que celle-ci reste en place face à la bourse de Milan.

- Rossignoli, le temple du vélo à Milan 🚴‍♂️💨, notre hôte Cesy y travaille et ce magasin, fondé en 1900, est un vrai musée vivant : vélos suspendus au plafond. On se croirait dans une galerie d’art 🎨

Un remerciement particulier à Marie-Marthe qui nous a envoyé une jolie carte de San Valentino ❤️

Et pour finir la journée… un repas de Saint-Valentin dans un petit resto italien en banlieue 💖. Quand tous les clients sont italiens… on sait qu’on n’est pas dans un restaurant pour touristes 😋🍝.

La serveuse nous propose la table qui est à côté d’un joli cadre avec une phrase qu’on google translate  : « Ceux qui pensent que c’est impossible sont priés de ne pas déranger ceux qui essaient ». On adore !!

Et vous, ça vous arrive d’essayer des choses que les autres pensent parfois impossible ?

Some of you suggested that we were going to Milan to watch the Olympic Games... 😅 Well... no! We headed in that direction without realising that the Olympics were taking place there at the same time. It makes you realise how disconnected we are 😆 from the world.

Angélique found hosts just 30 minutes by train from the city, who were happy to welcome us for two nights. Thank you to Cesy, Sylvi and their little boy Martino (who taught us the names of colours in Italian) 🙏

With our bicycles safely stored away 🚲, we were free to explore Milan at our leisure, without any constraints ✨

We were able to discover:

- The Sforza Castle 🏯, a fortress built in the 15th century by Francesco Sforza, Duke of Milan.

- Milan Cathedral (Duomo) 🏰, construction of which began in 1386 and took five and a half centuries to complete in 1932.

- The Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II 🛍️, where the mosaic in the centre of the gallery features a representation of the coat of arms of Turin (a bull on a blue background). Legend has it that spinning around three times with your right heel on your genitals will bring you good luck.

- Il Dito 🖕🏽 Maurizio Cattelan donated the statue to the city of Milan on the express condition that it remain in place opposite the Milan Stock Exchange.

- Rossignoli, Milan's temple of cycling 🚴‍♂️💨, where our host Cesy works. Founded in 1900, this shop is a veritable living museum: with bicycles suspended from the ceiling, it feels like an art gallery 🎨.

And to end the day... a Valentine's Day meal in a small Italian restaurant in the suburbs 💖. When all the customers are Italian... you know you're not in a tourist restaurant 😋🍝.

The waitress offered us a table next to a pretty frame with a quote that we translated using Google Translate: ‘Those who think it's impossible are asked not to disturb those who are trying.’ We love it!
