Aujourd’hui, on a prévu de prendre le train de Sarajevo à Mostar 🚆🇧🇦

On avait fait des recherches pour savoir s’il était possible de monter dans le train, en Bosnie, avec nos vélos assemblés 🚲🚲

On n’a rien trouvé sur le site internet de la société qui opère les trains 🧐 Alors, on s’est rabattus sur les forums de discussion de voyageurs 💻

Les retours divergent : certains disent qu’à la billetterie, on leur a dit que c’était impossible ❌ D’autres disent que ça s’est bien passé ✅ et quelques-uns parlent d’avoir négocié avec le contrôleur 🤝

Avec ces informations en main, on arrive plus d’une heure en avance pour se donner toutes les chances ⏰🤞

On décide d’aller à la billetterie. Le monsieur est très accueillant 😊, nous donne nos billets 🎫 et nous indique que, pour les vélos, pas de problème : il faut simplement payer 10 marks au contrôleur 💵

Waooo, trop facile 🙌🏼 On s’est fait du souci pour rien… mais vous vous doutez bien qu’il y avait un loup 🐺😆

16h30, on est sur le quai et le train arrive 🚆 On repère le contrôleur et on s’avance pour lui payer les vélos 🚲

Il nous répond non. Je me dis : non, parce qu’il ne veut pas être payé ? 🧐 Alors on avance avec les vélos et il répète que non. Ah, c’est non pour les vélos 😢😓

Et là, sans se consulter, on se dit dans notre tête qu’on ne va pas lâcher l’affaire 😤 On lui dit qu’on a un billet 🎫 et qu’on nous a dit à la billetterie que c’était ok pour les vélos. On fait des signes pour lui montrer qu’on peut retirer les sacs 🎒 Mais il répète non. C’est là qu’on comprend qu’il ne semble pas parler anglais 😟

Patrice sort Google Traduction 📱 et lui montre le texte. Il lui répond en bosniaque. On a l’impression qu’il dit qu’il ne comprend pas la traduction — normal, avec le stress, je n’avais pas vu que c’était en allemand 🤪 Alors je me dis que je vais le faire parler au téléphone pour comprendre sa réponse 📞 Même si je me doute bien qu’il dit sans arrêt qu’il n’a pas de place pour nos vélos. Mais malgré tout, on ne bouge pas. On reste à côté de lui !!! 💪

Et là, il craque 🥳🎉

Il nous fait signe de le suivre. Il bougonne sans arrêt 😤, mais il nous ouvre tout de même une porte avec sa clé passe-partout 🔑

Angélique fonce !!! 🚀 Elle ne cherche pas à comprendre et rentre immédiatement son vélo. Devant, elle repère que c’est le wagon-restaurant, qui ne semble pas être en service 🍽️ Bingo !!! C’est idéal 🎯

Je monte ensuite mon vélo et lui dis merci quatre fois en bosniaque 🙏🇧🇦 Il continue à grogner 😡

On attache les deux vélos 🚲🚲 et on trouve deux places pour s’asseoir 💺

C’est là qu’on réalise que le train est bondé !!! 😳 Il est tellement rempli que plusieurs personnes s’assoient par terre 🧍‍♂️🧍‍♀️

Morale de l’histoire : la persévérance paye !!! 💪✨

Bon, il n’y a rien à manger ni à boire dans ce train 🥲, mais on ne va tout de même pas s’en plaindre 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Après 2 heures de train avec des paysages magnifiques 🚆🏞️, on s’est posés à Mostar le temps de visiter la vieille ville 🏘️, puis de déguster un bon repas sur une terrasse avec une vue magnifique 🍽️🌅✨

Today, we planned to take the train from Sarajevo to Mostar 🚆🇧🇦

We had done some research to find out whether it was possible to get on the train in Bosnia with our fully assembled bikes 🚲🚲

We couldn’t find anything on the website of the company that operates the trains 🧐 So we turned to traveller discussion forums 💻

The feedback was mixed: some people said they were told at the ticket office that it was impossible ❌ Others said it went smoothly ✅ and a few mentioned having negotiated with the conductor 🤝

With all this information in mind, we arrived more than an hour early to give ourselves every chance ⏰🤞

We decided to go to the ticket office. The man was very welcoming 😊, gave us our tickets 🎫 and told us that, for the bikes, there was no problem: we simply had to pay 10 marks to the conductor 💵

Waooo, too easy 🙌🏼 We worried for nothing… but as you can probably guess, there was a catch 🐺😆

At 4:30 p.m., we were on the platform and the train arrived 🚆 We spotted the conductor and went over to pay him for the bikes 🚲

He said no. I thought: no, because he doesn’t want to be paid? 🧐 So we moved forward with the bikes and he repeated no. Ah, so it’s no for the bikes 😢😓

And then, without even consulting each other, we both thought: we’re not giving up 😤 We told him we had tickets 🎫 and that the ticket office had told us it was okay for the bikes. We made gestures to show him that we could remove the bags 🎒 But he kept saying no. That’s when we realised he didn’t seem to speak English 😟

Patrice took out Google Translate 📱 and showed him the text. He answered in Bosnian. We got the impression he was saying he didn’t understand the translation — which made sense, because with the stress, I hadn’t noticed it was in German 🤪 So I thought I’d get him to speak into the phone to understand his answer 📞 Even though I was pretty sure he kept saying there was no room for our bikes. But despite everything, we didn’t move. We stayed right next to him!!! 💪

And then, he gave in 🥳🎉

He signalled for us to follow him. He kept grumbling 😤, but he still opened a door for us with his master key 🔑

Angélique went for it!!! 🚀 She didn’t hesitate and immediately brought her bike inside. Ahead of her, she noticed it was the restaurant car, which didn’t seem to be in service 🍽️ Bingo!!! It was perfect 🎯

I then brought my bike in and said thank you four times in Bosnian 🙏🇧🇦 He kept grumbling 😡

We secured the two bikes 🚲🚲 and found two seats 💺

That’s when we realised the train was absolutely packed!!! 😳 It was so full that several people were sitting on the floor 🧍‍♂️🧍‍♀️

Moral of the story: perseverance pays off!!! 💪✨

Well, there’s nothing to eat or drink on this train 🥲, but we’re definitely not going to complain 🤣🤣🤣🤣

After 2 hours on the train with magnificent scenery 🚆🏞️, we stopped in Mostar to visit the old town 🏘️, then enjoyed a delicious meal on a terrace with a stunning view 🍽️🌅✨Read more
