Chance with Logan home for the whole family to spend some time together down at Taupo.
Stoped off at Cambridge on the way at favourite cafe Paddock.
Staying at ‘The Barn’ an airbnb at Acacia Bay. Owned by Chris and Tami Metcalfe who only purchased the property 5 months ago and have completely renovated a barn into a fantastic place to stay. Everything new and fresh as well as keeping part of the old barn as a big games room.
Heard about food trucks down by the lake so headed off there for dinner.

Exploring a bit of Taupo

Waited for Mia to have her morning sleep then headed into town for brunch at the Store House, very nice and they had Flight coffee.
Walked around town seeing the revamped lakeside.
Afternoon walk through the bush to Huka Falls.
Just down the road is an open free tennis court. So an hour of tennis before Fish n Chips from the local.
Evening games consisted of ‘I’ve never done this before’ Lyn taking out Darts. And Paul taking out Cambio, a new card game that Logan taught us.Read more

Ride and Soak

The Ride part being that we hired mountain bikes and rode from Huka Falls to the dam on Lake Aratiatia and back. A great circle track with parts grade 2 and occasional grade 3. Loved it. At 12 every day the dam is opened and water released. Very cool as this empty cavern is filled with water.
After lunch visited a cafe / art gallery just up the road which specialised in mosaics.
The Soak part of the day was our visit to the Wairakei Thermal Pools. Fantastic way to spend nearly 2 hours soaking in warm water.
BBQ for dinner and finished the day off with a game of Settlers of Catan won by Logan.Read more

Wet morning, fine afternoon

📺 When the Tele is on in the morning we watch Football, Football.🎶
🎲 A big game of ‘Settlers of Catan’ Expansion version with Cities and Knights, due to it raining. Won by Sam.
🚶‍♀️In the afternoon the weather cleared up and we went into town, got some lunch down by the lake front, with a short walk along the lake side.
⛳️ Off to the new mini golf ‘Swingers Putt Putt’ which had a number of very interesting holes. Unbelievably 5 of the 6 of us scored identical 55 with 1 scoring 50 (Check photo for winner).
🥃 Followed by quick drink at a bar beside mini golf.
🃏Tacos for dinner and evening game of cards, ‘Up and Down the River’ won by Jord and Sam.Read more

Homeward Bound

We packed up and headed back to our favourite Storehouse for a coffee and brunch for some.

We farewell Sam, Sof & Mia.

Full credit to the boys for their ability to hunt out quality coffee spots. On the way home we stop off at Rocket Coffee that Jord knows about. Another excellent coffee. And just around the corner is a second hand record / vintage store, fabulous! Paul bought a book.

An absolutely delightful few days with the family all together. Highlight Paul teaching Mia to crawl and do a raspberry all at the same time!Read more
