• Back to Winnipeg

    April 21 in Canada ⛅ 16 °C

I had a sleepless night and we woke early to get to the airport. It was a short drive to the airport. We arrived early at the airport and the car return and check-in went smoothly.

Flights were another story. We had a short layover, 1:10 min in Zurich and were concerned about making our flight. Although everyone kept telling me that isn’t short. However, Zurich is a big airport. Although there is a sky rail between terminals, there is still a lot of walking to the gates. We arrived at the gate in time, boarding had already started, and we were nearly last to board. A full plane and then we sat. Zurich was having wind issues, so they had to switch runways and it backed up the departures. Our flight ended up leaving about an hour late. We had a 4 hr layover in Toronto so it wasn’t a problem. The issue was adding another hour to sit on the plane, on an already 8 hr flight. A very long time to sit . Then again another delay from Toronto to Winnipeg. They announced they had to wait for another flight attendant. The flight was delayed by almost an hour. Then there was a go ahead to start boarding, then it stopped and we had to wait in the jet bridge to actually board the plane. Finally we were on board and headed to Winnipeg. It was nice to see no snow in Winnipeg. Now we have just two days until we fly again. This time to San Francisco to visit Kevin and family and meet baby Miles.

Ed and I had a great time and wished we could stay longer. We loved everything about Slovenia, the landscape, architecture, history and foods. There is so much to see and do, and its so clean and friendly. We would go back in a heartbeat.
