Huge Buddha museum Fo Guang Shan

Das Buddha-Museum neben dem buddhistischen Kloster gehört zur Tempelanlage Fo Guang Shan dazu und ist überwältigend: Nach dem Eingang mit einigen Souvenirshops und Restaurants findet sich ein breiter Weg, der von insgesamt acht Pagoden gesäumt ist und zum Buddha-Museum führt. Im Museum kann man einige Ausstellungen über den Buddhismus (z.B. buddhistische Feste, Buddhas Leben und Grundideen des Buddhismus), Reliquien, Buddhastatuen und Kunstausstellungen besuchen, welche über drei Etagen verteilt sind. Die Pagoden kann man auch betreten und Informationen über die Reliquien dort finden. Außerdem kann man die vergoldete Big-Buddha-Statue besichtigen, die erhöht über dem Museumsgelände wacht und schon von weitem zu sehen ist. Diese Big-Buddha-Statue ist die höchste Statue eines stehenden Buddhas in Südostasien. Insgesamt ist es lohnenswert, das Museum an verschiedenen Tagen zu besuchen, da es dort so viel zu sehen gibt. Übrigens ist das Museum und die Besichtigung der buddhistischen Klosteranlage kostenfrei für alle Besucher*innen, und natürlich auch für uns Freiwillige. The Buddha Museum next to the Buddhist monastery belongs to the temple complex of Fo Guang Shan and is overwhelming: Behind the entrance hall with souvenir stores and restaurants, you can find a wide path lined with a total of eight pagodas leading to the Buddha Museum. In the museum you can visit some exhibitions about Buddhism (e.g. Buddhist festivals, Buddha's life and basic ideas of Buddhism), relics, Buddha statues and art exhibitions, which are spread over three floors. You can also enter the pagodas and find information about the relics there. In addition, one can visit the golden Big Buddha statue, which guardes the museum grounds in an elevated position and can be seen from far away. This Big Buddha statue is the tallest statue of a standing Buddha in Southeast Asia. Overall, it is worth visiting the museum on different days for several times as there is so much to see. By the way, the museum and the visit of the Buddhist monastery complex is free of charge for all visitors, and of course also for us volunteers.
