Dominican monastery

Our second stop of the Lima tour was the Dominican monastery in the old city center. The inner chiostre is amazing, decorated by ancient colorful tiles made by rich Spanish families and imported directly from Spain during the colonial period. The old library is also fascinating as well as the inner garden. The whole building exemplifies the effort of catholic Spanish to impose their religion by re-creating in the new world amazing pieces of art.Leia mais
