    Amsterdam transit on the way to Lima

    We arrived in Amsterdam in the morning. This is our transfer stop and from here we take a long 12h flight that we'll bring us to Lima where our adventure starts!

  • Arrive in Lima

    After a 12h flight, we finally landed in Lima, the capital of Perù. We will stay for one night in the nice area of Miraflores before departing for our tour. We take the occasion for a quick walk around this district and in the cat park area.

    The hotel is comfortable, so we will enjoy some rest to recharge and be ready tomorrow morning.

  • Welcome to Pisco and Ceviche

    On our first night in Perù we immediately enjoyed two great classics of the local food: Pisco sour and Ceviche.
    A great way to align with the local mood and get ready for the tour.

  • Move to cusco

    We wake up early in the morning at 4am and after a quick bite we jump on a bus to the Lima airport. From here, we will fly to Cusco, the first real stop of our tour.
    A good sleep recharged us and despite the early wake up we are energised to start our journey.Read more

  • Meet the lamas

    From the airport we start our travel toward sacred valley and ouyancumpo. It's a long road, and we had several nice stops along the road. The first one is a nice farm and textile production site where they grew lamas and alpaca. The animals welcome tourists with enthusiasm... But just because you bring some food ;)Read more

  • Local market and empanadas in Pisac

    Our next stop is in the small town of Pisac where we visited the local market full of colours and traditional textiles. We also visited a traditional oven where we had a chance to try delicious empanadas and see hamster cooking.Read more

  • Lunch break with coca tea

    The tour stopped at a good buffet restaurant named Hanks. Here, we had our first experience with some typical Peruvian recipes and especially we tried coca leaves infusion.

  • Ollantaytambo

    We arrived at the archeological area of Ollantaytambo at about 2800m in the early afternoon. This is our first contact with ancient Inca terraces and their magnificent constructions.
    This is an amazing complex with multiple levels of terraces topped by the remains of a sacred temple. Climbing up proved hard in the altitude but the experience was great.Read more

  • Get energy for machu picchu

    We stayed for the night in a nice place outside Urubamba and we are excited for the next step, Machu Picchu. After a good breakfast we are full of energy and ready to go

  • Train to Machu Picchu

    To reach Macchu Picchu we first took a local train that in 1.5h take you from Ollantaytambo to Macchu Picchu Pueblo town. The journey is a fascinating track in a narrow pass between mountains. From our comfortable, panoramic train we enjoyed some stunning views of the valley and a tasty complimentary snack with coca tea.Read more

    To reach Macchu Picchu we first took a local train that in 1.5h take you from Ollantaytambo to Macchu Picchu Pueblo town. The journey is a fascinating track in a narrow pass between mountains. As the train moved in the narrow valley toward Macchu Picchu we took some pictures to fix the amazing views passing all around us.Read more

    Finally, after a long transfer by train and bus, we arrived at the magnificent Machu Picchu at 2400m, one of the modern world wonders.
    On this sunny day, the place slowly reveals all its magnificent and fascinating spectacle as we climb up.
    This large ancient city is entirely built on the side of the mountain including houses, temples and agricultural terraces.

    Our visit to Machu Picchu continues walking down in the lower area, where we can find original houses and temples. It's surprising how this magnificent city was built by shaping the mountain at such an altitude.Read more

  • Lunch time by the river

    After our visit to Machu Picchu, we enjoyed a tasty lunch in a nice restaurant by the river suggested by our guide.
    We tried the local alpaca meat in 2 different versions and both were delicious!

  • Road to Vinicunca

    On our fourth day we planned a trek on the Vinicunca, the rainbow mountain.
    We left at 5AM early in the morning since the transfer takes 3h.
    Along the road climbing up to the mountains we already could enjoy some stunning views of this colorful area.Read more

  • Climbing up to Vinicunca

    April 24 in Peru ⋅ ☁️ 4 °C

    It takes about 1h to reach the top of the Vinicunca mountain. The path starts at about 4700m and you have to climb up to the top at 5036m.
    Given the altitude, it's a challenging hike and you have to take your time and proceed slowly.
    As we progressed, a stunning view of vibrant colours was revealed all around us. Local people offer pictures and horse rides animating the scene.

  • On the top of the mountain

    When you finally reach the top of Vinicunca mountain, all the efforts are repaid by an amazing view all around. The rainbow mountain is on one side, on the other you can see the valley with the river and on the other a huge glacier surrounded by clouds.

    It was a demanding trip, but it makes an unforgettable experience!

  • Lunch stop with Panchita

    On the way back to Cusco, we had a lunch stop in a small restaurant in Cusipata.
    This is the home of the celebrity alpaca Panchita, who goes around free and welcomes all the guests.

  • Evening in Cusco

    After the challenging experience of Vinicunca, we took a moment to rest and refresh at the hotel in Cusco.
    After a hot shower, we then went out again for a short walk in the city center and the main city square. Cusco, once the capital of the Inca empire, is today a lovely city full of activities and colors.
    We had a delicious dinner with Alpaca and mixed potatoes to close another adventure day in Peru.

  • A tasty bread along the road

    April 25 in Peru ⋅ ⛅ 9 °C

    Today we will move by bus from Cusco to Puno. It's a long journey that takes about 11h and we will stop to visit some Inca and pre-inca sites along the road.

    But first our guide made us try the local sharing bread, the chutaton. It's a large sweet bread with chocolate chunks, tasty and perfect to start this long trip with the right mood.Read more

  • Andahuaylillas

    April 25 in Peru ⋅ ☀️ 11 °C

    Our first stop along the road is the small colonial town of Andahuaylillas. As in many other small towns in this area, one can see the influence of Spanish colonialism in the buildings and decorations style.
    We visited the local church which is a peculiar sometime confused mix of Spanish architecture, Christian decorations and local influences. It's interesting to observe how the local culture adapted the Christian symbol into their stories.

  • Raqchi

    The second stop on our transfer to Puno was the archeological site of Raqchi. In this area we saw ancient Inca terraces that are still used today and a great complex with the remains of hundreds of storage buildings. Finally, part of an ancient temple.

  • Crossing the border

    Along the road we had a quick stop at la Raya, a small panoramic spot at 4335m that marks the border between Cusco and Puno regions.
    A last stunning view before we reach our final destination.
