Wellington to Picton to Christchurch

We caught the Inter-island ferry from Wellington to Picton early this morning. It was a little bit rough in the open sea but quite enjoyable. We met a lovely NZ couple from Napier (him) and Hastings (her) who are traveling around the south island on their honeymoon. Chatting to them made the 3.5 hour boat trip go quicker. The sea surrounded by mountains coming in to Picton was gorgeous. We then drove nearly 5 hours to Christchurch. The trip was made slower by roadworks through areas damaged by the 2011 earthquake. The beaches here were also beautiful and its amazing to see the railway tracks running right beside the beach. Finally got to our gorgeous Christchurch hotel at 6pm.Läs mer
