• Veli rat

    30 giugno 2022, Croazia ⋅ ☀️ 28 °C

The last day was a big day of sailing as we headed back down to Veli Rat, it was our last night as we had decided it was time to head back to the mainland to continue down the coast towards Montenegro.

We ate Pizza with the Captain and headed to bed early for the 4.30 bus ride to Brbinj to catch the Catamaran back to Zadar

  • Shkodër

    4 luglio 2022, Albania ⋅ ⛅ 26 °C

Where to start… we’re finally in a country where old men smile while cycling along the street, fruit vendors sell sweet cherries and children playing outside in a warm summer night.

We spent some days in Shkodër, northern Albania close to the Skadar lake. While staying here we rented bikes and rode around Skadar city and lake. We ate fresh fish and enjoyed the chill vibe.

We even visited a memorial museum - which is honoring the dark time in Albania during the brutal communism regime which ended in 1991.

Now we unpack our backpacks for the next adventure. And yes - we learnt how fucking expensive it is to send a package back home… so we donated most of our stuff.

  • Plav Hostel

    31 luglio 2022, Montenegro ⋅ ⛅ 23 °C

After gathering tools and foraging for building materials, we installed ourselves a little Atelier in one of the empty spaces in the rather large hostel complex. We had first wanted to just focus ourselves on fitting 3 rooms with bedside tables, wardrobes etc
However as the chaos and unpredictability of Plav continued everything change a few times.
Here are some pictures of what we manged to make and install.

  • Pristina

    3 agosto 2022, Kosovo ⋅ ⛅ 30 °C

At our last night at a campfire in Plav we spontaneously changed our plans. Instead of heading back to nature we decided to visit Pristina. The capital of Kosovo - which is currently hosting the Manifesta. The nomadic European Biennale. Besides a lot of artsy shit we enjoyed the cities variety of international food.Leggi altro

  • the hashish road

    11 agosto 2022, Albania ⋅ 🌧 24 °C

Since hitchhiking went so well we decided to travel on. Little did we know what kind of a route we had planned to take. A greek albanian guy picked us up and he drove us all the way. On the way, he stopped at a nice fish restaurant where he ordered masses of food which he payed. The road we planned to take got worse and worse - as did the mood of our driver. After a 3 hour bumpy road we arrived at our destination. The village was - not what we expected. Our driver decided to take a nap at a hotel. Although he was angry he managed to book a room for all of us. So we ended up awkwardly lying in a triply room. We tried to give him money at least for the gas - he refused… so humbled by this generosity.Leggi altro

  • St. Tropez in Macedonia

    14 agosto 2022, Macedonia del Nord ⋅ ⛅ 21 °C

Sadly we said goodbye to Albania and «Hello to Macedonia..» The biggest difference: hitchhiking doesn’t work so well anymore and we can’t read the map.. since they have different letters. It’s greener, the border crossing we did by feet - but at least they sell the same fish in every restaurant.

We still hope to catch a ride in those old iconic YUGO cars.

  • Strumica

    17 agosto 2022, Macedonia del Nord ⋅ ☀️ 33 °C

We hitchhiked (with a friendly restaurant owner) to Prilep, tried to get a train 🚆 onwards but ended up on a bus towards Strumica. Where we camped 🏕 in the garden of the restaurant we ate dinner 🍽.

  • Bansko

    18 agosto 2022, Bulgaria ⋅ ⛅ 24 °C

We awoke in the garden of the restaurant and hitchhiked across-the-boarder with the Bulgarian Howard Marks (Mr nice) he not only looked like the guy, he also handed us a burning joint after getting in. He also seemed to known the boarder customs officers as well, we were waved on through.

As I was having some issues with my hip we decided to head to a hiking/skiing region as we thought there would be physio and Dr's there. This is how we ended up in Bansko...
