Chocolate experience in La Fortuna

There are several ways to get to La Fortuna from Monteverde and I missed them all. Fortunately, I met a guy who was also heading to La Fortuna by car so we decided to make this road trip together. After couple hours of stunning view at the valleys, mountains and the Arenal Lake we finally reached our destination. However, before finding our hostel we had to stop by a local chocolate store to ask for directions. There we met Ericka, a local girl working in a chocolate shop and dreaming of having her own cocoa farm! She gave us cocoa pods and showed us how to eat them. Apparently, raw cocoa beans have very sweet and fruity outer layer, and you can suck them like candies! One of the best tastes I had in my mouth so far! She also told us everything about chocolate making process and joined us for dinner in La Fortuna! We had dinner in a Soda (local buffets) just like locals and made a new friend who already invited us to her future farm!Leia mais
