• I’ve Had a Request for a Bike Pic

It’s a Cannondale F5 (or 7?). If it’s an F5 it dates from about 2010. It’s sturdy, but pretty light… I’m used to an e-bike so everything feels light!

When I talked to the bike shop guy, I said a medium frame would be best. He looked through his collection of bikes leaning in a pile and grabbed this one. I gave it a whirl up and down the alley and I was good to go.

Now, the problem with this scenario is that I was way too excited to get on the road and there were some things I should have paid attention to.

A kilometre or so into the trip, I felt like the frame was pretty short. I’m used to being more stretched out as I ride. It was fine though, so I kept riding. About 30 km into the trip I was taking a break and noticed the word ‘petite’ on the frame. No wonder it felt smaller than usual… the bike is a small frame! Oh, well. It’s not a problem as the bike is overall a bit lighter.

Also, the bike had 27 gears… but I discovered on day 1 that the gearing is set wrong so I can only use the smaller two of the front cogs… any attempt to get to the biggest cog sends the chain flying off (like a North Korean trash balloon).

Again, it’s not that big of a deal since I am a cruisy rider who likes to coast along when I can :-)
