Hello Lao 🇱🇦 first stop: Huay Xao

Arriving in Laos felt like stepping into a completely different world. Life moves slower here, and the contrast with Thailand is striking — from the quieter streets to the warm, laid-back locals.

Our first stop, Huay Xai, sits right on the mighty Mekong River and immediately charmed us so much that we decided to stay an extra day. The town’s colonial-era architecture is fascinating — grand, now crumbling French villas stand as silent reminders of the country’s colonial past. A beautiful, though bittersweet, glimpse into Laos’ complex history.
