Arrived in Dubai about 11am after a 14hr flight from Brisbane both tired and took taxi to hotel Novotel Diera in old town
After settling in went for a walk to the shopping mall across the road. Huge mall with all usual stores had coffee at the Coffee Club

Slept ok but woke early
Had morning free so ended up taking taxi to Dubai mall
Incredibly large with huge Christmas decorations everywhere
Look in hadleys toy store for gc presents
Wandered further but over whelming!
Then returned to hotel by taxi who got lost on way back and kept driving further away to inflate fare big argument when we finally got back
In afternoon we did desert adventure tour over sand dunes and photos with a falcon on Jane's head
Followed by time at tyre shop on way to evening meal and entertainment at a Beduion camp quite good food and show

Final day in Dubai.
Had slow start to day and left hotel at 11am for airport ready for flight to Dublin.
Daylight flight departed at 2:30pm arriving in Dublin at about 7pm

Repeat of yesterdays start
Walked to the Epic emigration museum in the Docklands on the north side of the Liffey
Spent a good couple of hours in the museum which has in depth displays of the whys and wherefores from every perspective. Well worth the visit
Had lunch there then moved on to the Oscar Wilde museum at his parents house most interesting history of his life
Then visited the park across the road where he played as a child

As was becoming usual we woke early and went down to the hotel breakfast
Daylight around 9am and cold misty weather
Middle of the day we ventured out and walked down to the Liffey then crossed over to Temple Bar area very crowded generally. Didn't go into any pubs and then headed further south to St Stephen's Green shopping centre to get out of the weather for a while
Looked at a few shops then headed back to hotel around dark at 4pm

Woke to another damp day and after breakfast drove along the coast to first Clifton and then on to Westport which is a much bigger town
Interesting drive through rugged country when you could see it amongst the clouds
Stopped at a gift shop for coffee but didn't buy anything then returned to Galway
Walked the 400m to the Huntsman which had taken half an hour to drive the previous night!

Packed up and continued south stopping at Gort just out of Galway for breakfast at Sullivan's Hotel very nice
Headed on down to Cork via Limerick
Arrived in Cork mid afternoon and after doing a loop of the CBD we found a
car park on the south bank and walked onto the island
Visited the information centre where they suggested we go to Cobh to the Waters Edge hotel which we did

Weather was an improvement so we drove west along the coast got as far as Timoleague before we decided to return to Cobh
Wandered along the harbours edge and went into the Titanic museum which was well presented as Cobh was the last stop before heading to America
We really liked the hotel and had a second dinner there

TravelerAfter a cloudy dawn the mist closed in over breakfast and not much to see. Todays plan to drive to Dun Laoghaire tomeet up with the McKechnie's at Harriets house. We followed the coastalroad to Waterford then headed north on the N11. Arrived in Dun Laoghaire late afternoon and met up at Harriet's new house on Hainult St in Foxrock. Left the rental there and went with J&A to their airbnb by the harbour fir rhe night. Very nice place. Had dinner at a nearby restaurant before returning for the night. Christmas lights were everwhere and particularly good on Marine Rd near the airbnb
Got up a bit later this morning and spent the time talking with Jen and Alastair. Great views over the harbour and town
Returned to Harriet's for lunch and then Jane stayed whilst I drove up to the airport hotel and checked in and then returned to meet them back in town
We spent some time in the airbnb then met Harriet along the road for a meal at 8:30pm which was very nice
