• Travel to Charters Towers

    Today we travelled to Charters Towers. Was a pretty short trip. The change of scenery from the coast to the outback had commenced. We stopped at the Burdekin River at the Macrossan Bridge marker. Here is a pole that shows all the flood levels as early as 1870, with the highest recorded water level being 21.79 metres in 1946. We parked the Winnebago (which is 3.5 metres) beside the pole and it reached the equivalent height of the 1997 flood which was 18.01 metres.
