    1 augusti 2018, Australien ⋅ ⛅ 22 °C

What a day..... finally made it to our destination at Cairns Coconut Resort which is our home for the next 3 nights! It is beautiful, very green and lush and fabulous amenities. So much to do for the kids. Luckily we found a refreshment venue enroute and are now enjoying a cool drink by the pool while the kids have a ball splashing around. Cairns has certainly turned on the weather for us, with a nice 28 degrees today.Läs mer

  • Cairns Coconut

    3 augusti 2018, Australien ⋅ ☀️ 27 °C

Today we had a relaxing day around the park. We started the day with a coffee and a card game called 'Sleeping Queens' with the girls. Followed by a few hours of homework, a load of washing and a walk to the local corner store to buy some milk and bread (which included a frozen drink from Maccas for the girls) and an afternoon of swimming, water slides, water park, jumping pillows, playground and putt putt.
We also had family come and visit which was really nice. This was the first time the girls met their cousins, and Kylie met some of Tina's 'Mawer' family. The kids all got along great and all we heard was giggles while they made good use of the playground. This was while the adults sat around and caught up (it's been many years since the last catch up) and we all enjoyed pizza for dinner.
We called it a night at 9pm as the girls were feral, dirty and tired!

  • Travel to Charters Towers

    7 augusti 2018, Australien ⋅ ☁️ 17 °C

Today we travelled to Charters Towers. Was a pretty short trip. The change of scenery from the coast to the outback had commenced. We stopped at the Burdekin River at the Macrossan Bridge marker. Here is a pole that shows all the flood levels as early as 1870, with the highest recorded water level being 21.79 metres in 1946. We parked the Winnebago (which is 3.5 metres) beside the pole and it reached the equivalent height of the 1997 flood which was 18.01 metres. It is daunting to think of how much higher the water has risen!Läs mer

Today we arrived in Hughenden and went straight to the Flinders Discovery Centre to see the Muttaburrasaurus and other fossils. We had a quick look around town and headed back to our accommodation for the night.Läs mer
