3 day trip to Atauro - Timor Leste

We walked from Kathy's house to the local docks to catch a ferry to Atauro island. It was total chaos loading, unloading, boarding the boat. Eventually everything and everyone was on board and we sailed away. We arrived at a small concrete jetty and everyone piled off. We walked a short distance through the local market stalls to Barry's Place, where we were quickly introduced to our room and provided with lunch. We stayed in a large cabin built mainly from bamboo that had 3 sleeping rooms and a nice balcony metres from the beach. After lunch Kathy and I joined a group going snorkeling on a reef a short distance directly offshore. The corals and abundant fish life was astounding. We enjoyed a few gin and tonics before a nice buffet meal in the big communal eating area. It was nice sleeping on the second level with the shutters open letting in the wind and sound of the sea.Lue lisää
