Walk to Abara - Atauro - Timor Leste

Woke to a nice sunrise over Timor Island. After a great breakfast at Barrys, we collected our packed lunch and headed across Atauro towards Mario's at Abara. A rough dusty road led up the mountain across rugged limestone ridges. Over the top we followed little local tracks through shady gorges, past villages and pig pens eventually teaching the cost on the other side of the island. We followed the beach to Mario's, where we took to the water for a snorkel over the reef just of shore. There were thousands of colourful fish over the shallow parts of the reef, and a steep deep bank leading into the depths with loads of larger reef fish dashing around. We warmed up on the bamboo pontoon and made our way bank to the little resort to eat our lunch. It was a hot but enjoyable walk back, tempered by some cold Cooper's ale. Czytaj więcej
