Shiretoko Pass to Rausu

After farewells to Simon we headed up the Shiretoko Pass, an 800 my climb across the base of the peninsula. It was a steady hard 15km climb to the top, were we rested in the nice cool air. It was then a glorious sweeping 15km descent with an amazing view of the surrounding mountains. We pulled in at a roadside natural spring onsen where we had a good soak. We continued a few kms further into the little fishing port were we found an awesome little restaurant serving great local seafood. We then continued south along the coast to a nice grassy campground ($4). Where else in the world could you enjoy such a series of great experiences in one day.Read more
