  • Day 1 Complete - very thankful

    July 27, 2024 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 24 °C

    We finished our first day.
It was a very good and safe day with only 1 flat that occurred right at a rest stop. PTL

The boys and leaders worked hard to finish the route. Piotr did a great job leading most of the day.

We enjoyed dinner at Dennys that had good food but we really stretched the kitchen which took a long time until everyone got served and our young men were very patient.

  • End of Day2 - Ice Cream and Praising God

    July 28, 2024 in the United States ⋅ ☁️ 26 °C

We finished day 2 and are praising God for his wonderful creation, His word and many things.

We went for dinner then for ice cream. Then Mike shared the devotions. We each read a verse and shared at least one thing we are thankful for. It was a special time and the Holy Spirit blessed our time together.

Some of the team rested, some went shopping and played games.

We are very thankful and looking forward to about 53 miles tomorrow.

  • ADK End of Day3 - Great conversations

    July 29, 2024 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 24 °C

We finished well. The boys could swim in Otsego Lake when we finished and as we waited for our rooms. Then we went for dinner at an amazing Lake Side restaurant.

After we ate Mike led us in a strong devotional discussing the Impossible Task that Christ sent us on as His followers. But we are not alone, we have the Holy Spirit to guide us.

Then visited the Headwaters of the Susquehanna that start right here in Cooperstown, NY.

My Flat update lol: after two more flats we continue to investigate the cause and make adjustments. Hopefully find an open bike shop tomorrow.

The boys are tired but looking forward to more fun riding tomorrow.

  • ADK Day4 - Climb every mountain

    July 30, 2024 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 21 °C

We had a beautiful ride today.
    We had lots of climbing.

I drove SAG so Rob could ride the first 25 miles.

It was a NO FLAT day! PTL
I took my bike wheel to a local bike shop and purchased a new tire and a few extra tubes.

It was a beautiful day with some sun and shade.

    We traveled through Ephratah, NY!

After the lunch stop we needed to detour to our hotel. Some of the men did a laundry mat run.

When we arrived at the hotel we enjoyed some ice cream and watermelon.

We are leaving for dinner soon. Many of the boys are tired but always respectful and kind.

  • ADK Day 5 ride in the books!

    July 31, 2024 in the United States ⋅ ☁️ 22 °C

We had a great safe ride about 25% in the rain. Some light and some heavy. All wonderful!

Bill had a flat which was his first in years and on a tube that already had two patches!

The boys did a great job riding on beautiful and mostly smooth roads.

Everyone is enjoying the rain shower that arrived after we did to our hotel. We are in the woods with no cell service along Indian Lake.

Devotions at 5:10 pm then off to dinner at a local restaurant.

    So thankful!

  • Drips, drops and more rain

    July 31, 2024 in the United States ⋅ 🌩️ 25 °C

Cloudy start some light rain followed by a spot of sun and dried out nicely. Finally someone besides Roger got a flat. Then some rain during our lunch stop- sheltered in the trailer and under cardboard. It was then reasonably dry and 30 minutes after arriving at hotel it was pouring! Thank you God for holding off the rain! Picture of lodge living room.

  • ADK Day6 - Eggs, hills and more hills

    August 1, 2024 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 18 °C

    What a great day.
Started with Rob and Mike making breakfast of eggs, toast, bacon, etc.

Every morning Bill hands out a “pop up card” with a verse inside to encourage each of us. Today a number read their verses before we departed.

Then we were on the road looking for some hills / mountains to climb.
Today was our longest and most ascending climb yet.

All arrived safely. One tire was shot and needed to be replaced.

We are staying in an old hotel. Should be a unique experience. The boys did well today and worked hard. It was sunny with some headwind.

We are all looking forward to dinner.

  • Relaxing on the balcony

    August 1, 2024 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 33 °C

Leaders relaxed on the porch, many boys still had energy and went swimming at the beach. It was a longer day with some amazing descents. Of course to get those there was a little bit of climbing. Partway of the climb we saw this signpost for York PA! We had one tire wear out and need replaced, otherwise a smooth day. The hotel is a 3 story ramshackle old building with lots of character right on the lake. From the porch we can see the boys swimming, float planes landing/taking off and boats going by.

  • ADK End of day 6 - Great food

    August 1, 2024 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 27 °C

We were thankful to finish another day with great food and God inspired connections.

Mike, Piotr and Adam connected with the owner of the General Store across the street. He was very encouraged, they prayed with “David” and then he handed them a check as a donation to LifeCycles.

Then we went for dinner at Chef Darrell’s Mountain Diner. Chef Darrell did a great job and we sat on his deck and were able to pray with and for him and his business. (Another God appointed connection)

Mike shared during devotions regarding God appointed meetings.

Now to bed and onward to our second to last day.

We are so thankful for your prayers and encouragement.

  • ADK Day7 riding in the books

    August 2, 2024 in the United States ⋅ ☁️ 20 °C

We all enjoyed a great night sleep and we were packed and ready to roll by 8 am. We had a last minute flat change on a leaders bike and a tire change on a boys bike.

We had 43 miles with moderate climbing. The boys were extremely strong today. We didn’t even stop for lunch. We had some SAG water fill up and snack stops along the way.

We arrived at Saranac Lake and enjoyed lunch by the trailer of PB&J, watermelon and cantaloupe.

We waited for check in and Pete Dimmig who is a great friend of the ministry, the DeRemers and many of the leaders. Pete and Marian lived in Elizabethtown and attended church with Lee and Marcie. Our kids went to KMS with Pete’s boys. Pete came with his boat and gave three groups a tour of the lake and allowed the boys to swim in Saranac Lake

We are planning on spending the afternoon and dinner with Pete.

We had another safe, beautiful day.

The boys are preparing mentally for tomorrow’s ride up White Face Mountain. It will be a very challenging ride.

Then after we ride up the mountain we will take photos at the top and ride down the mountain. Eat a quick lunch / snack and leave for home in wet, smelly clothes. Lol

Please be in prayer for safe riding, endurance, encouragement.

Then Lord willing we load up and drive home.

  • Day8 The Climb, packing, changing ..

    August 2, 2024 in the United States ⋅ ☁️ 25 °C

Last evening we enjoyed a tour on Pete’s boat then we had a great meal last evening at Tail O the Pup. Pete and Marian Dimmig our ministry friends joined us.

Mike closed the week with a great devotional on being a mentor and working with a mentor.

The motel was nice and we all had a good nights sleep.

We had breakfast of yogurt, bananas and muffins and we were off riding by 7 am. We rode about 11 miles to the base of White Face Mountain. Filled our water and snacks and we were rolling up the mountain. It is about a 5 mile, 3k foot climb and average incline of 8%

EVERYONE finished the climb including Rob. Rob drives our van as our SAG (support after group) driver. He drove the van to the top and rode down. Then he turned around and rode the whole way to the top. It was a very impressive endeavor.

We hiked up the stone rocks to the peak.
    Then rode down very fast!

We completed the week of riding with no crashes! PTL.

Then we ate quick, changed out of our sweaty cloths and hung up the bikes and packed the trailer. The cold cantaloupe was refreshing.

We left about noon for home. The van is full, the boys and leaders are thankful and tired.

Thanks for all your prayer support. For 100% of the boys and leaders to arrive at the top of white face is a big deal.

We are praising God for a good week.
We hope to arrive home about 9 to 10 pm

  • Booking it, boats and BBQ!

    August 2, 2024 in the United States ⋅ ☁️ 23 °C

It was a very foggy morning, fun watching the mist clear over the lake. The guys were flying today! Their legs may be tired, but are strong as they pushed higher mph averages. We arrived by 11:30 today, the first time we finished before 1! Roger sliced up some juicy watermelon and cantaloupe! We were hoping to arrive early as a friend of LifeCycles-Pete and Marian Dimmig live at Lake Saranac and Pete gave tours in his boat around the lake and allowed the boys to do some swimming. Then we went to the Lake Placid ski jump facility, wow! I’ve got a much greater appreciation for ski jumping now. Finally Pete took us to a BBQ place, tasty! We finished our night with devotions on the topic of iron sharpening iron.

  • The big van ride!

    August 3, 2024 in the United States ⋅ ☁️ 26 °C

We all made it up Whitefaces fog shrouded mountain peak- unfortunately no great views but the completion of a safe ride week. Surprising balmy at the top no chilling temps like last year. Sadly our week is drawing to a close. It is about 7.5 hrs and 444 miles in the rain which was the only serious rain of the trip.
