    When I had done more than 750 steps, I finally reached 'Jesus' on top of the hill. Because I wore a shirt with short sleeves that day I was not allowed to enter the statue. Fully covered in sweat, exhausted to the bone, but very satisfied, I took some pictures and videos up there and I began to descent. Anneke was still waiting downstairs for me. The taxi driver who was supposed to pick us up again didn't show up. We crossed the road and enjoyed the ocean view for a while. It was a nice and sunny day.Читать далее

    Then we got back to the hotel, packed our bags and with a taxi went to the ferry boat terminal. The taxi driver first wanted to leave at a place that did not even looked like a harbour. He had made a mistake. Soon he managed to go to the right address. We had still plenty of time left. The high speed ferry came in and we left at about 12:15. We showed our tickets and we got on board with our suitcases. They placed the suitcases at some empty seats in the back.     We came to the house of Coen and Loc, but it was all locked up and it seemed that no one was at home. Just as we wanted to leave again there was some activity and they unlocked their home. We were happy to see them again but at the same time we realised we were back in busy HCMC. Not only busy traffic at the streets but also motors driving through the small alley where Coen and Loc live at. At dinner we were served some typical Vietnamese food, Loc baked some sausages for me and we spent the evening at their home watching a video of the marriage between Coen and Loc some years ago. We agreed to visit the market and the house of the Loc's mother tomorrow before going to our beds.Читать далее

    We did some last shopping and went back to Coen and Loc's house. Then the time to say goodbye came. We weighed our suitcases one last time just to be sure we won't get any trouble due to overweight and said goodbye to Coen and Loc and Loco and went to the airport of HCMC to fly back to Holland. At about 12:15 we arrived there. We looked for the right counter to check in and then the trouble started. There seemed to be a problem with the flight from China to Holland. The seats on the plane from China to Holland were not confirmed and fixed to our names and they couldn't change that in the computer system. They told us we still had enough time to solve this problem. We just had to phone with the company where we had booked our flight. We were flabbergasted. We couldn't reach the company by phone because of the time difference with Vietnam. The offfice was still closed at that moment. When we tried the emergency number we only heard music playing! We tried to reach them via internet, but we had no connection at the airport at the front desk. We had to walk to a restaurant nearby the front desk in order to get a wifi connection. But we couldn't change the seat allocation ourselves either. Panic came looking around the corner. What could we do now? We kept going back and forward to the front desk of China Southern Airlines to explain that we couldn't get in contact with the office in Holland no matter how hard we tried and they kept telling us they couldn't help us with this. Time passed by and we missed our flight. We decided to go back to Coen and Loc to find any solution.    Читать далее

    Back at Coen and Loc's we tried to figure out a solution for our missed flight(s) and luckily we did find one. We could fly the same evening with Emirates. We booked and printed out the tickets and went back to the airport again. At the airport we had no problems this time. They could find our booking in their computer system and we felt so relieved at that moment. We bought our last Vietnam souvenirs at the tax free shops and boarded for Dubai in stead of Guangzhou.     Who would have thought we would also get to Dubai on our Vietnam holiday? We certainly did not. It looked like a second holiday, an encore. And what a beautiful one it was going to be! Beautiful airplane, nicely dressed, very friendly stewardesses and stewards and a well organized journey (boarding). Excellent care concerning food and drinks on board. In short, an excellent and very comfortable flight. Anneke and I were seated next to each other on the flight to Dubai. We were told at departure that we would not be seated next to each other on our next flight, the one from Dubai to Amsterdam, but that it could be resolved over there on the spot, and that's exactly how it went. I sat at row 69 and Anneke at row 74, but after take off from Dubai Anneke could come and sit next to me. At Dubai Airport we were astonished by the many beautiful shops and waiting facilities for tourists. It looked all so luxurious. I pulled some more dollars from an ATM to be able to buy something to drink and to eat. It certainly was not cheap here. A cup of tea (6 USD) and a cup of coffee (8 USD). We could also compete to win a BMW. We just had to buy a ticket of 'only' 139 USD. We decided not to. We bought some Dubai souvenirs and went to a restaurant close to our gate before continuing our flight to Amsterdam. It was a very nice experience to have been at this airport.Читать далее
