• Frankfurt Day 2.3

    27 ноября, Германия ⋅ ☁️ 7 °C

After spying on all the fun buildings it was off to the pedestrian bridge across the river. We had dinner right by there last night, but didn’t go across so today we did! Really nice views of the city and such a gorgeous day! It was cold with the wind obviously, but I bundled back up in preparation and was nice and toasty.

On the other side of the bridge is the Sachsenhausen area, which my guide was kind of disparaging about as it is all bars now, but was like it’s still worth a wander (and yes the Main Street is just bar after bar). It was fine, but not as nice as the other parts of the city are wandered, though on the ground there were apple stones I think because there is an apple wine that was originally made there.

Then it was off across the Alte Brucke (old bridge) which was also really nice. Might have liked the views better from that bridge, but it was also a car bridge so can’t just go back and forth to either side (though I did when it was clear!). Then on to the old Jewish cemetery and memorial. The outside wall had the names of people killed in the Holocaust. Most of it was also destroyed by the nazis with only some headstones remaining that were lining the edges. The Jewish museum is right there too in a wavy building.
