Up at 5:30am, breakfast at 6. Naps at 7 waiting for the all clear to leave the ship. Surprisingly we did NOT dock in Ishinomaki but Sendai itself.
Madness insured with the line because people can’t follow instructions, cue long lines. On shuttle to Sendai around 11. They dropped us off in front of Sendai Station which was reminiscent of Shinjuku Station with raised platforms and shops.
Mom and I ventured out heading for the Tourist Info desk about 15 minutes away. I gave 500 yen to a chanting priest and he prayed for our safe travels. Saw some ladies from our shop looking kinda lost and we suggested the furthest from the station the more local things they find. Stopped at 7/11 for drinks and I did one of the kuji pulls like Key told me to and won third prize, a big cushion of Cherry Blossom Miku.
We got to the info desk and spoke with the lady there about where to go to make local crafts. She sent us to the next building to a small craft counter where you could buy crafts but not make them. The lady there hooked us up with another store in the shopping street parallel to the main road called Kokeshi no Shimanuki. Mom and I painted our own little kokeshi dolls. Very fun but I didn’t realize what a perfectionist mom is.
Afterwards we went back to the station and the bus area to catch the shuttle back to the ship at 3:00. Chilled for a bit, ate dinner and caught the Stevie Wonder tribute show. The sea is kicking up though.もっと詳しく
