• Sunday Anastasia Island, Jail & Ghosts

    March 15 in the United States ⋅ 🌙 66 °F

Corey got us up around 7 to go see the sunrise. It was lovely even with some clouds. After a short walk we headed back and stopped at Zabba’s for more fried donuts. Back at the house Corey made omelets for us too. Took a shower and sat in the sun to dry it. Corey was kind enough to French braid it.

Kristin arrived around 11. She got a flat on the way down. I let her have my donut. She, Corey, and Darla went shelling. I stayed home and napped. Tonight is gonna be busy so I wanted to conserve energy. We had birthday cake for lunch, sorted the shells they found and realized the house adjacent was painted the exact color of the sky.

Around three we headed to the Old Jail and stumbled into a tour group led by inmate Lizzie. She was very informative and funny. We visited the women’s block, the kitchen, the sheriffs office, and death row. I’m not gonna talk about the solitary confinement room…because I still think they were pulling a trick with the shadows…it HAD to be a trick.

Anyway afterwards we drove to the fort and wandered looking for dinner. We settled on the Prohibition Kitchen, an old school speakeasy with gas lights and lots of barrels. It was very loud when the live music started and it took 15 minutes for our waitress to notice us. By this point we’re a bit cranky…but the food was good. As soon as we left the rain hit hard. We bought umbrellas but they didn’t really help as we were two by two. Four drowned rats later we made it to the car and back to house.

After throwing all our clothes in the dryer, we chilled until 8:45. Then we went on our ghost tour! We learned about an exploding bishop, a dead bride and more. We visited a grave yard, the wax museum and back to the flipping jail…yeah…where Corey got a pic of my “friend”. The tour was great save for two disrespectful teen girls who were all wanted to strangle. We got home around 11pm.
